Manuel Pellegrini is expected to take an ‘elite’ group of Hammers Academy prospects on the close season trip to Switzerland next month.
The new manager has made it clear that no player will be allowed out on loan until he has taken a close look at them in pre-season.
Academy boss Terry Westley made it clear that was the case when telling the official site: “The boys are at a level where they need to be around the first-team and in my first meeting with the new manager, he suggested a number of players will go away with the first-team squad to their training camp at the start of pre-season.
“Nobody will be allowed to go on loan until Manuel has seen them for himself, which is credit to players and Academy staff as he told me he has heard good things. He wants to see what he has got before anybody goes on loan.”
We understand the players high on the manager’s list to join the first team squad at the Switzerland training camp are defenders Reece Oxford, Marcus Browne and Josh Pask, midfielders Nathan Holland and Martin Samuelsen and striker Toni Martinez.”
Oxford has returned from Germany after loan spell with Borrusia Monchengladbach and Westley told CandH: “It’s good to see him back -m this can be a big season for him under the new boss as it is for all of them. They all have a big chance to advance their claims.”
