Bowen back in dreamland

Jarrod Bowen was back in dreamland after scoring on his debut!

The £23 milion signing was totally outstanding and scored the goal which set the Irons on their way with a  hugely important goal.

There’s everything in this young man’s game for him to become a serious crowd favouritie but the goal was something he believes he had seen in his dreams on Friday night.

And he was grateful to Alan Irvine who had tipped him off about the Saints goalkeeper’s preferences – information which allowed him to slip away the perfect opener for the Hammers.

But beyond that there was a moment when those in the Billy Bonds Stand were on their feet cheering the lad simply for closing down a Saints player on the touch line – something which tells you much that has been wrong with the Hammers this season.

He couldn’t have had a better start and left the field after 75 minutes to a standing ovation.

Afterwards he said:  “I think that’s the way it went in my dreams last night! We held on and got the three points which is really important.

“The assistant manager said the keeper liked to go down quickly. I knew the angle was tight so I got enough on it to dink it over him. I thought it might be offside – I joked with my dad last night about what if I scored and it was ruled out!

“Hard work is a given. I’ll always put 110% in. I think against Liverpool we performed well, the work rate was there, but when you’re at home you want to try and get three points and build on it. Now we’ve got two good performances, now we want to build on that.”
