Bowen keeps Hammers on course

Fulham 1 Hammers 1

Jarrod Bowen ensured the Hammers remained unbeaten in the mid winter friendlies with a second half equaliser as Declan Rice looked on.

The captain watched from the stands as the Hammers came alive with a very decent second half performance after a lifeless first 45 minutes ,…as has been the story of their season.

Jarrod prodded home a close range shot after second half sub Flynn Downes had intercepted a defensive pass forward from the Fulham defence.

The Whites had taken the lead on 42 minutes when right-back Kenny Tete crossed and Carlos Vinícius got in front of Craig Dawson to nod past Lukasz Fabiański.

Bowen’s goal atoned for a first half miss and another in the second, firing wide from close range on both occasions.

Coach Mark Warburton’s recent comments that the squad had been working on attacking moves was barely apparent in the first half but it was good to see them have a right go in the second period.

However, we are still in a position where the Irons seem to find it tough to play forcefully over 90 minutes and that will have to change at Arsenal.

Oggy still looks dodgy at central defence and Dawson isn’t at his best but Fornals caught the eye although Scamacca hobbled off after 10 minutes and we can only hope he is not badly injured at this stage.
