West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen has been selected for England’s final 26-man squad for UEFA Euro 2024.
The 27-year-old was initially included in Gareth Southgate’s provisional list of 33 players in May after an impressive 2023/24 season.
After playing the full 90 minutes in the Three Lions’ 3-0 friendly win over Bosnia & Herzegovina on Monday, June 3, Bowen has secured his spot on the plane to Germany for his first senior major international tournament.
Despite some critical observations from pundits following the 3-0 win, I personally thought Bowen performed excellently. His directness and cutting edge were evident, clearly impressing Southgate.
Bowen was also unlucky not to score his first international goal against Bosnia, following excellent work from Conor Gallagher, who has also made the squad.
“I’m so proud,” Bowen said, clearly delighted. “Any call-up for your country is amazing, but going to a major competition like the Euros is so special, and I’m so excited.
“I’ve watched European Championships and World Cups at home in Leominster, Herefordshire, and in the local pub as a fan, and I never dreamed I would get the chance to play in a tournament like this. It’s going to be incredible.
“I’m confident I can make a difference to the team. Every time I’ve played for England, I’ve tried to show what I can do, and ultimately you get picked for playing well consistently.
“We’ve got so many good players, and it’s up to me and the rest of the boys to go to Germany and show what we can do.”
Well done Jarrod . . . we’re all buzzing for you mate.
Well deserved enjoy yourself and let’s bring some positivity to our aupport
Outstanding signing from David Moyes. If only he’d signed more like Jarrod and less big money misfits who didn’t suit his system.
But that doesn’t take away how David Moyes gave him a chance when others weren’t prepared to. How he’s improved under DM, his mentality, everything. I’ll always be grateful to DM for signing Jarrod. Lovely guy and deserves this huge step in his career.
Some of the reporters of mondays match saying he was hardly involved clearly don,t like him as a player. He was involved more than most and definitely warrants his place
Congrats Jarrod!! ⚒️
I didn’t hear much from the pundits on Bowens performance on Monday, but felt he did pretty well, considering he didn’t get much service!
He’s been unfortunate the last couple of England performances with goals, having one chalked off and another ‘saved’ on the line by an England player!
If Bowen gets his chance he will do well with the players we have in our squad well done you deserve it
