Bowen reveals dream Europa opponent

|

Jarrod Bowen has revealed that he is desperate to play Barcelona in the next round of the Europa League.

The Hammers are waiting to discover who qualifies from the first knockout round and goes into the pot for the next round.

The Irons, of course, have a bye into the quarter-finals and the standout tie is clearly a potential meeting with Barcelona.

They have played Napoli in the first leg, and played out a 1-1 draw with the Italian club in the first leg at Camp Nou.

It means that Barcelona will have to score in the second leg to progress to the next round but Bowen has admitted that he wants to take on the Catalan giants in the next round.

The two sides have never actually faced off and Bowen admits that he is desperate to take on the Spanish giants.

Speaking to 90min, the winger, who has been in sparkling form this season, said: “I’d be lying if I said I haven’t thought about [a possible trip to Camp Nou], and it’s a great position to be in.

“Our main goal in the group stage was just qualifying, it was all a very new experience for a lot of the players who hadn’t been involved in Europe before, but to do it by topping the group and going straight into the round of 16 was fantastic.

“It’s a long way into the competition, we’re only a few games away from the big prize final. We’ve got to see who we get, but Barcelona would obviously be lovely for us.”
