Bowen signs five and a half year deal

Fair play to the Hammers media department who were quickly off the mark following Jarrod Bowen/s arrival from Hull City with a full story and some pretty moody videos.

And manager David Moyes was clearly delighted to have signed a player who knows precisely where the net is after 22 goals this season and 15 last.

Bowen is one of the most exciting players around and becomes the third signing in this winter window joining Darren Randolph and Tomas Soucek.

Bowen had rejected a move to Palace and Newcastle apparently turned down the chance to sign him because the fees demanded by his agent were too rich for the club’s blood.

It’s a statement of intent from the club who agreed a fee close to £25 million for the player, taking their winter spend with  Soucek’s loan fee to around £33 million.

And there can be no doubt that the club have given themselves and the manager a real chance of beating off the  threat of relegation.

In announcing Bowen’s arrival the official site said: ‘The 23-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee on a five-and-a-half-year contract.  The deal was submitted before the 11.00pm deadline.

Bowen arrives at London Stadium after a prolific spell with the Tigers that included 54 goals and 14 assists and saw him become one of the hottest properties outside the Premier League.’

The versatile attacker, who can play wide on the right, as a No10 or as a centre forward, is looking forward to continuing his impressive career in Claret and Blue.West Ham United manager David Moyes said: “We are delighted to welcome Jarrod to West Ham United. I think he could be a big success.

“He’s probably what you’d call a wide forward these days, or perhaps an old-fashioned inside-right. He has played a couple of games as a second centre forward or as a No10.

“When you score goals like he does, and in the numbers he does, in the Championship, it will give you a great chance of scoring goals in the Premier League. We were attracted to the goals he has scored over the years; not just in one year, but over the last three years.”

  1. Inside right. hehe. Bring back the 4-2-4 and the WW !!!!

  2. I am pleased to see him and hope that Moyes will have the courage and conviction to leave Lanzini and Noble and Zabaletta on the bench for at least the first half and give the new additions, and Ngaka, a chance to shine. Their enthusiasm alone could be the turning point and might just rub off onto the rest of the squad

  3. I think good sensible singings look forward to watching them play COYI⚒⚒

  4. I didn’t think we would get this over the line but what a player. Now let’s stay up and this lad will help with that . ⚒

  5. Credit due well done ..good signing…lovely and fickle

  6. To all those who criticised the owners I think it has been a successful window, now let’s get behind the boys and climb the table

  7. It’s obvious that most of the delay in getting deals done in transfer windows is due to the role of players’ agents, but overall we’ve made 3 encouraging signings. Everyone getting behind the team and David Moyes is what we now need – plus some proper performances out on the pitch. 3 points today, but they will have to be earned the hard way. COYI

  8. Let’s best Brighton first. Very important job. Moyes needs to continue to play two upfront. Shame they couldn’t offload Sanchez but I guess Rochdale were not interested. I hope these new signings have the desired effect of making a few individuals play to their full potential. We should be in the top of the table not sitting in 17th.

  10. He didn’t turn down Newcastle, in fact they never made an offer for him because they felt Hull were asking for too much. Newcastle was actually his preferred destination, having been originally brought into Hull by Steve Bruce.
