Jarrod Bowen

Bowen to Tottenham makes no sense at all

The more I consider the recent transfer rumour linking Jarrod Bowen with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, the less it makes sense.

Of course, it could just be one of those transfer rumours that are entirely fabricated, though some prominent sources did seem to confirm the story. I’m fully aware that any talk of £150 million is nothing more than a deterrent, but issuing a price-tag did seem to dangle the carrot somewhat.

Aside from it being incredibly difficult for West Ham United and Spurs to do transfer business due to rivalry, it doesn’t make financial sense at all. Tottenham are not impervious to the same financial restrictions and regulations that the rest of the Premier League increasingly have to abide by. So, I find it incredibly difficult to believe that they could even begin to afford Bowen.

The North Londoners have a Harry Kane-shaped void at the heart of their attack and are supposedly ready with a £50 million bid for West Ham target Ivan Toney. Riccardo Calafiori is believed to be on their radar as well as ours, and there is also talk of a move for Crystal Palace’s Ebere Eze.

Factor in Tottenham’s requirements for a midfielder, as well as the numerous attacking options they already possess in wide areas, and the Bowen links just seem to melt away.

I must confess to a moment of panic when I first heard the news that Spurs were in high-level negotiations with the Hammers for our Player of the Year. It’s also worth noting that anyone who sanctions the sale of Bowen to our London rivals would make themselves incredibly unpopular.

For me, whilst I was initially concerned, this has now become a bit of transfer twaddle.

He’s not going to Tottenham full stop. But when you’ve got an owner as clearly unambitious as David Sullivan is . Silly season takes over .

The vast majority of transfer stories at this time of year go nowhere, much of it is speculation. A good deal of it makes no sense at all. We’re linked with players who if we’re honest we’ve never heard of and every player we have is linked with moves away. Little of it actually comes about.

The issue is, that whilst i don’t believe that he will move, and also from what i read on a spurs forum linked, spurs have denied making any form of contact and no interest – but the issue you mentioned about finances, spurs are from what i saw on price of football – in the best position in the league in terms of PSR – I think they can spend over £400 without even coming close to any PSR limits.

Hey Mark, we’re hopefully getting Kieran Maguire on soon and I’d be fascinated to find out more.

I have to admit that I’m no fan of this PSR stuff, I’m not sure how many clubs it’s protecting but it’s certainly hampering a few.

      Have a good day mate.

According to the press every club is trying to sign about 40 players and they are all world beaters. As far as Spurs go their priorities are surely a number nine and a number six, the two positions where they are really weak. In terms of wide attacking players they’ve already got Son, Kulusevski, Johnson and Werner. There’s also the youngster, Mikey Moore, who is looking promising. So while Bowen is a terrific player I’m not sure he offers much they don’t already have. He probably will attract attention from other clubs just because of his quality but I doubt Spurs will be one of them.

Must admit i’m getting frustrated for Gonzo,Kate, Simon and all the other guys on here with all the moaning negative comments on here. They are just informing us of all the RUMOURS nothing more, nothing less. Yes some are laughable, some are wishful but at this time in the window nothing can be taken to seriously. So if you are a fellow hammer i would take it that way, if you are a troll you have a sad life, and if you are a spud i understand why you are on here as our club offers so much more than yours!!

I really appreciate your comments and support and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

      Thanks for reading mate

Fair shout.ossie and I’m glad gonzo has been made happy..but personally I would prefer less posts (and rumors) and just read transfers that actually have a chance of happening…that’s just my opinion..but I just don’t think putting every rumor from foreign papers up will help gonzo and Co. And the site ..with respect and personally I would prefer to have a go to site that you will know that ,what they say about transfer buisness will have a very good chance of happening…bit like the Italian press bloke ..Romano is it.?..anyway I love this site but I would prefer it that way …less posts more truth from our sources at the club….but that’s just me
