Bowen’s back for Liverpool clash

|

Jarrod Bowen returns from illness for West Ham United’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.

David Moyes makes nine changes from the side which started in midweek, with the eleven who featured against Manchester City last time out in the Premier League all restored to the XI.

That means Alphonse Areola starts in goal, making his first appearance at Anfield since helping Fulham to a 1-0 win on Merseyside in March 2021.

Vladimír Coufal is at right-back, with Kurt Zouma skippering the side at centre-back alongside Nayef Aguerd. Emerson, who was a half-time substitute against TSC, completes the back four.

Liverpool starting XI

Tomáš Souček, fresh from scoring his first goal of the season on Thursday, starts in a midfield which also features Edson Álvarez and Lucas Paquetá.

James Ward-Prowse also starts in the middle of the park, and will be aiming to continue his fine start to life with the Hammers, which has seen him score twice and assist five goals in his first five games.

Bowen will support Michail Antonio in attack, with the Jamaica international targeting a sixth career goal against the Reds.

Moyes also has a wealth of options on the bench, including Mohammed Kudus, who netted twice against TSC, one-time Liverpool striker Danny Ings and Pablo Fornals – scorer of three previous goals against today’s opponents.
