Boxing Day blow

The Daily Mail reports that Arsenal and West Ham face drawing the short straw on Boxing Day with an 8pm kick-off.

The Premier League returns on December 26th following the conclusion of the World Cup in Qatar. The World Cup final takes place on December 18th.

The league has yet to confirm which games have been selected for television coverage but the Mail reports that talks have been held between the Hammers and the Gunners to discuss pushing that fixture back from 3pm to 8pm.

The Premier League has not confirmed that the Irons will have to play the game at that time, but it is likely to be moved for television given the immense amount of interest in such a London derby.

Amazon Prime are slated to show the game on Boxing Day; they will be airing every fixture on the 26th.

While it is a derby, there is close proximity but fans are likely to be furious at the prospect of having to travel at such a time on a bank holiday; the game would finish at 9:45pm.
