West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has spoken to Sky Sports Patrick Davison about the London Stadium ahead of the Hammers’ first premier league encounter at Stratford and revealed there are now 50,000 people on the waiting list for season tickets.
“It was very important to bring our past with us to our future, and you can see it all around the stadium,” Brady said. “The look and feel around being West Ham was the number one priority. We didn’t want to be in a vanilla stadium that wouldn’t reflect our values. We promised supporters that we would deliver a stadium that would exceed their expectations in look and in feel, and I think we have done that. There were many points in the last six years where lots of people didn’t think it was going to happen – and one of them was me. This stadium could have been run-down, under-utilised like other Olympic venues across the world, but instead it is vibrant, multi-purposed, it has helped to regenerate this area and generated hundreds and hundreds of jobs. 50,000 people are on the waiting list for tickets – we always knew we could fill it.”
Karren Brady wants a stadium “that would exceed their expectations in look and in feel”….= “and in feel” – to me that means atmosphere; the atmosphere of home. We all do. That mainly comes from the standing fans chanting and creating the songs (often funny).
As such, the club MUST try to achieve standing areas – where ‘standers’ can ticket swap with those who want out. They must negotiate with the owners to make it happen, sacrificing ticket sales if necessary. I called my email “Accomodate, not alienate”. If not, I think our “New Boleyn” will become a library like Arsenal…Who wants that? NO-ONE!

We had enough time to look at this standing situation well before the move, is the final decision the club’s? or the owners of the stadium itself, the number who seem to want to stand is not going to be easy now to just do exchanges, it would be like starting all over again which seems impossible.
Was the standing matter ever raised before tickets went on sale?
It really worries me the bitterness there now is, on a certain forum the standers are not worried about how many the stadium holds now as long as they stand, I can’t see either side giving in.
Just hope there are some cool heads tomorrow, lets not spoil our first premier league match as the new stadium, Please!
It definitely seems to be simmering doesn’t it Jaybs, perhaps Hugh can find out if the standing issue was ever raised ? I remember all the talk before the London Olympics was about the retractable seating and the overall design, I think our chairmen and chairwoman wanted to redesign the stadium but were told there wasn’t enough time by the LLDC or something along those lines but whether safe standing was included in that who knows ?

I can’t be bothered with this bolloxs.So I will move on.I said to my mate that Ibra would easily score 20 goals for Manure this season,he is still a class act.With him taking penalities as well he will walk it.All this turd about him only scoring because he was playing in the French league was balls,he is just a class act whether you like him or not.

Phew. Thank God we’ve sorted THAT one out; Whether Ibra was going to score 20 or not was a burning issue. Meanwhile those pr@ts at Westlands, who don’t know what they are talking about, say he’ll score 50? None?? Only guessing….
