Karen Brady’s latest announcement – that she is to start a second column in Britain’s lowest grade newspaper – almost feels like an “up yours” at the fans and makes it easy to understand why the protests against her will continue.
For months (years?) the Irons supporters have been demanding that she gives up the column in a paper which is still held in contempt by football supporters given it’s disgusting coverage of Hillsborough.
The answer has always been “no way.”
It’s a paper too which has seen her write stuff about other clubs which has rebounded almost directly on her position as an officer of West Ham United.
Currently, she wants us all to accept that she is in ready to set up a democratically elected official supporters advisory board.
And she does so at a time whilst ignoring the wishes of the fans and rubbing their noses in it by deciding a new column is a good idea.
Ok, it’s non football but as far as most of us are concerned it’s another distraction from the job she should be doing for West Ham United.
For most people running the entire non football side of the club at a wage of over £1 million a year should be more than enough.
To start yet another ‘job’ with – of all groups – News International – is simply mugging us all off.
Not on …not on at all!

Can’t help but think she’s still in place to act as a lightning rod and take some of the flak instead of the owners.
I’m no great supporter of hers (but her stubborn determination seems to be a business benefit, if only it can be channeled where it’s best used), but the notion that you can only do an effective job if you’re a fan of the club is just nonsense. In fact, being a fan would probably blind you to things you need to avoid, just because of your irrationality as a fan. Just like people who think being ‘passionate’ is good; to me being passionate means you take risks to follow your passion. Likewise, just having ‘football people’ probably isn’t the best way forward either; so much of the football world is simply corporate, not sporting. We’ve seen so many ex-players fail dismally when exposed to non-football scenarios that we should have learned by now.
West Ham utd need a dedicated CEO just to run the club and nothing else? Having someone like her just adds “petrol to the fire “with all the undercurrents of unrest happening to the club? She is a total wind up to the football minded supporters who want GSB to run the club with football minded people in charge of club facilities, scouting ect and all things football related only? Not someone building their own portfolio to enhance their own little side deals making a few Bob on the side as is what she seems to be doing and using our club as a vehicle to enhance her career?? For christ’s sake she is not even a West Ham supporter? Arsenal are her team of choice so why don’t Sullivan and Gold get at least some one who loves West Ham as all the faithfull supporters over the years? There must be someone out there with a decent business acumen that supports the Hammers surely?? Time to change the CEO Mr Sullivan and Gold or unrest will get bigger with this announcement???
Fully agree with everyone’s view on this. All Karen’s success on the marketing side of our club is completely undone by her Sun column. Thought she was intelligent enough to see the connection between this and supporter protest, perhaps not!
Probably the biggest ego in football and paid millions to mug as all off by G&S.
Wouldn’t surprise me if she turned up doing X factor.
