Brave Iron may pay a price based on ‘previous’

I hope I’m wrong but despite naming him my likely team for Liverpool at the weekend I have the feeling Craig Dawson may be on the bench at Anfield.

As we wrote earlier Moyes made a point of giving the central defender a public rollicking for what he believed was his fault for the second Saints goal last night  – a VAT recommended pen.

There was no need for that given the character Daws has shown this season as he has played through injury problems with Oggy and Zouma injured but the manager has previous when deciding to do such things.

He has made a point of dropping Benrahma  and Coufal (despite carrying a groin injury ) for poor performances before dropping them for the next match.

I hope I’m wrong for the player’s sake but it may well be that Moyes will do the same after giving him a blast in the post match presser.

He will have an excuse for doing so because Diop would be the obvious replacement and the Frenchman had a particularly good game last night.

But although I may be wrong to feel that way if he does leave him out of the team it would feel like a bit of spite to me!

  1. Dawson is one of our best servants. You just know he’ll do his best for you.

  2. Hope he doesn’t drop Daws spitefully after publicly blasting him – not classy. Especially as DM is culpable for over-playing tired players like Soucek shielding Daws and Diop out of position and needing help. His uninspired double sub did very little either – neither came as close to scoring as Daws. He is looking for the wrong answers.
