West Ham United could still be involved in some transfer market activity this month, with summer signing Luis Guilherme linked with a surprise exit.
While the Premier League window is shut, clubs in Brazil can still conduct business until February 28th. Reports from Brazil suggest discussions are already taking place in London over a potential move to Botafogo.
Guilherme, 18, joined West Ham from Palmeiras in a £25 million deal but has struggled for game time. Despite a promising cameo against Chelsea, he has yet to break into the squad regularly. The signing was one of the contributing factors that led to Director of Football Tim Steidten getting sacked from the London Stadium.
Botafogo’s interest is fuelled by their owner, American billionaire John Textor, who also has stakes in Crystal Palace and Lyon. With his financial backing, a deal could be on the cards if West Ham are willing to negotiate.
The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A high-flyers are known to be interested in a forward and even challenged the Hammers for the signing of Eli Kroupi last week before he eventually decided to join Bournemouth.
West Ham would want to recoup much of the £25 million spent on Guilherme, but with money said to not be a factor, Botafogo are the one club in Brazil capable of putting together a tempting financial package
it was only 2 days ago when you confirmed from high authority that the lad was staying. now your saying something very different . Now who’s taking the P. this time . Them out of you , or you out of US.
I’m beginning to think that the porno king writes this column!
This fake trading by W.H. completely stinks, as it only can at this club . perhaps it is best for the lad to be well away from it ! and maybe that’s what Potter is thinking ( l hope so ).
This site reported a few days both that your so called top source said he is going nowhere and also that Potter had blocked any idea of loaning/selling him so please stop writing clickbait nonsense. As for the continual attempts to play the Steiden blame game it needs to stop.
Completely agree. The articles completely contradict each other, and not even any attempt to explain this.
Fed up reading the constant click bait attempts to play the Steidten blame game. How many times is the same basic story repeated, yet not a single mention of the 53 forwards West Ham signed costing £300 million since 2010? 20 of those players failed to score a single goal including Mido, Benni McCarthy, Pablo Barrera, Nene, Simone Zaza, Jordan Hugill, Albian Ajeti etc.
Hang on a few days ago C&H claimed you had spoken to your “top source” who said the club had changed their mind and decided to keep him after he impressed against Chelsea!
As the Brazilian transfer window is still open why don’t we accept one of the offers for Luizao who Moyes signed 2 years ago from Sao Paulo? Reports that 9 Brazillian clubs are interested in him. He’s made regular appearances for our Under 21’s but yet to make any appearance for our senior squad despite us being short of centre backs. Great shame as when he arrived he had a reputation as one of the most highly talented young defenders in Brazil. At almost 23 he needs to be playing regular football at top level, and it seems he won’t get that at West Ham.
I agree, we need to keep Guilherme, he’s the future and C&H need to stop using terminology like flop, failure etc, it’s making what is an informative site read like a comic, sort it out lads.
I don’t understand these posts at all. Is there any 18 year old that has been selected for the senior squad at West Ham more often than Guilherme. For a club that doesn’t seem to want to select anyone under 24, I would say he has done well and if the club has any ideas of developing for the future, they should keep him. As for the opportunity to slag off Steidten again, that is getting old fast. Two people that did nothing wrong and all we hear is how they have “failed”.
