Brazilian could sign for Hammers soon

|

A new report in Brazil claims Luizao is poised to join West Ham.

Gazeta Esportiva claims the defender could sign a pre-contract with the Hammers in January.

The report says the Irons held talks with Sao Paulo, Luizao’s club, over a deal to sign him but that the negotiations broke down.

The Hammers would have given Sao Paulo a 15% sell-on clause, as well as around £1m in terms of performance bonuses.

But the Brazilian club decided against that and it has left the Hammers to negotiate solely with the player, who is set to sign a pre-contract in January.

Luizao is a 20-year-old centre-back who has recently made his breakthrough in the Sao Paulo team; he has made 20 first-team appearances.

The Hammers could be in need of a defender if Craig Dawson leaves in January but the source isn’t exactly rock solid; we’ll keep a close eye on this one as it develops.
