West Ham are thought to be considering a loan for Brazilian international striker Alexandre Pato, according to reports. Pato joined AC Milan in 2007 but never really made an impact so the 25-year-old is now back in Brazil at Sao Paulo, on loan from Corinthians.
The Metro reports that Santos chairman Roberto De Andrade has admitted his regret at signing the striker, who has scored ten goals in 27 appearances.
A figure of £23.4 million quoted in the report is unlikely to be met by Premier League clubs including Everton and Crystal Palace, so a compromise will have to be made which could include a loan with an option to buy.
A few days ago I said I would be happy with a loan signing for a striker but the Enna injury has changed my mind, I now think we need another striker on a permanent deal and a loan signing short term, I just hope something is done quickly and we don’t end up with the ‘come back Carlton’ scenario, leaving things late will push up the prices through desperation
The £23.4m figure is wrong, must be some mistake made when converting currencies or something. Especially when you see that they paid just over £12m for him (as per wiki) 2 years ago.
23.4 million is that in Greek drachma??? Another slow news day where’s Mystic Bradders he’ll put us right with his inside scoops of pearly wisdom….
Pesos?
Way his career has nose dived better off paying in potatoes never mind pesos… Bloody talented though!!
Just had a look. 23 mil real is just over £4mil.
Totally agree we need a striker and preferably this guy from Turkey Sow. However we also need a winger, Valencia was primarily going to be used in a wide position so with Downing gone and Valencia injured we need to buy a top winger. I have not seen one comment on this and I am very concerned. The jury is out on Jarvis.
And we need a player with pace like Valencia. Love to see Song, Sow and Salah sign for us – then I would be happy and if I got Bolassie from Palace well then really happy days. I believe any deal for Hernandez from united is now gone with Valencia’s injury as we need a forward player with power…
