With the recent revelations that both Niclas Füllkrug and Guido Rodríguez are keen to leave West Ham, it was inevitable that others would also be linked with a Hammers exit.

That’s precisely what has happened with wonderkid Luis Guilherme, who has been causing a stir back in Brazil. Unsurprisingly, the media in his home country are speculating about the future of one of the nation’s brightest prospects, suggesting that Guilherme might benefit from a return to his homeland.

However, if I were Guilherme, I’d keep my powder dry and wait to see what happens with West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui over the next two weeks.

While the 18-year-old winger has good reason to be frustrated—clearly not getting much game time under Lopetegui—his situation could change quickly. A managerial change might spell a change of fortune for the rapid wide man.

Furthermore, I don’t see much value in a move back to Brazil. Even if Guilherme struggles to break into West Ham’s first team, a short-term loan could do wonders for his development.

Luis could very easily establish himself as one of the best players in the Championship. I’m confident clubs would be queuing up for a young, fast, and skilful Brazilian talent in their line-up.

I highly doubt Rodríguez and Füllkrug will be the last players to push for an exit from the London Stadium. But unlike his senior teammates, Guilherme’s fortunes may be tied to Lopetegui—and that situation might not remain unresolved for much longer.

Should never have bought him. Should have used the money to go towards buying Duran. How many highly rated youth players never make it? We don’t have that kind of money to gamble on a kid.

If he keeps his powder dry and we keep JLo he will also get a chance to play in the Championship.
