Brazilian’s pay demands kills deal

West Ham have tonight knocked back reports that Shaktar Donetsk winger  Bernard is on his way to the club
The story is being reported across Europe as fact but ClaretandHugh has been told an attempt to land the player failed a month ago on account of his personal terms.
We pulled out when his representatives wouldn’t budge from salary demands of £200k a week – the same as Javier Pastore.
The 14 times capped Brazilian international,25, was also hunted by Benfica but European media reports claimed the player’s agent Adriano Spadoto was in London talking terms.
But we were told the club dropped their interest a month ago and had instead moved in for Andriy Yarmolenko who has now joined the Hammers squad.
Our source added that  the wage demanded would kill the club’s entire salary structure.
However, it has become increasingly apparent that Manuel Pellegrini is regularly attempting to sign players of a higher quality than we have seen at the club previously.

  1. Reading different things on this one. I’d much rather have Bernard than Vasquez.

Free agent or not, nobody’s going to fork out £200k a week.

Get real, smell the coffee (Brazilian or otherwise) and get on the Pellegrini bandwagon with your compatriot Felipe!

  2. I like the look of him as a player but was beginning to think just how many wide right players do we need ?

  3. I like Vasquez . Seen him play a lot at Sevilla . Clever , fast , tricky and an accurate passer .

  4. This one ain’t dead until someone agrees to his demands – which is highly unlikely. Until then, he’s fair game.

  5. Can’t see any more big signings coming. Perhaps a couple of squad fillers but i would think thats pretty much it. Congrats to all involved in this new revolution. COYI.
