West Ham’s next signing could well be on the cards – with recent discussions apparently having been flying well under the radar to bring in the club’s goal keeper upgrade to rival – or succeed – Alphonse Areola. And the signing is quite unreported, a name most Hammers fans will not have heard this window.

However the 22 year -old Zion Suzuki, American born but with Japanese citizenship, is a former Manchester United target : described in January in a article by the Manchester Evening News :

“I was called one of greatest talents in the world – Man Utd can buy me for £40million”

The hugely talented prospect is reported by Ex WHUEmployee as being in ‘advanced talks‘ with West Ham United.

The Japanese International.. plays for Parma and has emerged as the Hammers’ most likely next signing. How things have changed as the recruitment team seem to be getting deals closer to the line without ‘leaking’ news to competitors. Up to a point.

22 year old ‘wonderkid keeper’ Zion Suzuki

‘Advanced talks are already, apparently, under way for the goal keeper through his agent.

Suzuki is 6’3, has a €20 million Transfermarkt  value and  apparently his heritage is seen (according to ‘Ex’ on thewesthamway.com ) as a big advantage: “It would also tick the Asian market signing that the club have desired for a long time”.

What it will do is give the Hammers’ transfer window a massive boost if signings come in without the ‘ have to buy to sell’ rhetoric continuing to blight Graham Potter’s team’s summer recruitment activity.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

  • Dean says:

There is no way we will get him for as little as is being touted and there’s no way we can justify spending up 35-40 million euros on a keeper when our midfield stinks the premier league out.

  • Jeeps says:

    This is another fantasy signing.
Fee is reputed to be nearer £40m.
With an added question mark why we he come to whu?
    Stick to affordable players.

  • Phil Baker says:

It’s insanity that Westham with an extremely limited budget have chosen to blow it on a goalkeeper when they had an adequate reserve in Fabianski for free .

  • B says:

West Ham spending 20 mil. Euros on a goalkeeper??

    Is he a Salthouse client?
