Claret & Hugh has received an exclusive insight into the return of West Ham striker Niclas Füllkrug, but it comes with a stark warning.
This morning, C&H spoke to a top club source to ask whether there was any truth in reports that the Hammers were actively looking for a striker in the January transfer window.
There has been increasing speculation about West Ham making a possible loan move for Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, so we sought clarification from the top Hammers insider who said: “Füllkrug is nearly back, but it all depends on how he performs and if he wants to stay.”
First of all, the news that the £27m transfer from Dortmund is close to an Irons return is great news. It means the German international could be set to feature from the bench in the West Ham vs Arsenal game or the following Premier League fixture against Leicester City.
However, the caveat that he could still wish to leave creates huge uncertainty around the striker situation at the London Stadium.
Reading between the lines, the Hammers remain in the market for a striker in case Füllkrug either doesn’t regain form and fitness or wishes to leave East London.
Strange , he’s not really had the chance to perform , he hasn’t given us a chance either if he wants to leave . Can’t see it , hope he proves he’s worth the fee ⚒
How can players come fir that kind of money and say they want to leave after hardly playing a game.and being unsettled…these are so called professionals
..don’t people look in to stuff like this ..its absolutely ridiculous…how can you know if it’s for you after a couple months……paying that kind of money for an injury prone 30.year old us ridiculous anyway and it’s our own fault…him and Rodriguez unsettled alredy is pathetic
“and if he eants to stay”
Is this a question already? Or merely media conjecture? Is he really evaluating without even a proper sniff?
Also… Is his salary being paid by the German FA due to International injury?
If the German striker is sincerely unhappy about being in London, bounce his ass straight back to his snuggly blanket back home. That goes for any and all players who are not 100% commited to this club.
That is all.
There’s a realization by the Hammers hierarchy that SCAMkrug is and will always be a broken donkey perhaps getting game time here and there . SCAMkrug himself admits that he needs to play every week to be match fit and that’s never going to happen in the Premier League . Westham are better off not having a new CF rather than spending 25-35 million on yet another dud . This season is already dead and so wait until summer . NO more over priced Brazilian forwards .
Keep the faith everybody. Niclas Fullkrug will play and be a great success in our team for a few seasons to come. Onwards and upwards. Always look on the bright side of life.
I think I would forget about this guy and try and find a German club to buy him back. Ferguson has got to be worth a look especially on a loan move. He started off absolutely brilliantly for Brighton but Di-Zerbi rotated the squad too much and since hasn’t got much of a chance.
The management need to find out from Fullkrug if he wishes to leave, before contemplating selecting him to play, because with his injury record the chances are he will not give all on the pitch
God it’s so depressing! If we had gone and paid out for Duran or the Bournemouth Big lad Solanke we would be in the top 6 now. Miser Sully never lets us down with the perpetual screw ups.
Why oh why do the management insist on buying strikers from outside the Premier league or Championship?
Knowing that Antonio was approaching retirement after many years as our sole striker, they bought Haller, who never looked much like being here, then Scammaca, who was ‘eased ‘ into the team by Moyse, then
Fullkrug, a proven invalid.
Now I hear that the next intended victim is to be an unproven Brazilian, Igor Jesus, from Brotafogo.Didn’t they know in the summer the availability of experienced strikers in the U.K. ?
I despair !!!
So, really, you only got half an answer on Halfkrug. So your top club source isn’t giving much away at all. We do need to get another striker in whether or not the German stays.
