A top West Ham United source has revealed to Claret & Hugh within the last hour that they are unlikely to make another bid for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran as things stand.

The Hammers had a third transfer offer for the striker rejected this morning, following a proposal that would have seen the Midlands club receive very close to their £40 million asking price.

Villa have been described as “too tough,” and West Ham believe they have offered a fair deal that suits all parties.

The 20-year-old striker is understood to be incredibly keen on a move to the London Stadium and is believed to have already agreed on personal terms with the Hammers.

This information from a high-ranking West Ham official comes at a time when Aston Villa have threatened to halt negotiations unless West Ham pay over £40 million with additional clauses that would yield further payments to the Villains.

Claret & Hugh has also been informed by a third party to “never say never,” but the club has now revealed that they will start exploring other targets more seriously.

Well another one bites the dust. Sooooo sick of our board. Need to do this, gonner to do that, blar blar blar. Buying this one, gonner buy that one, blar blar blar. Only been 6 windows or so when we have tried to buy a striker, when will it ever end….. once again it will be last minute.com when we get anyone we can to start the season. Once again it will be trying to bed in the new players in time for the first 6 games, with us on zero points as a result . Then we hang on to the next window and do it all again. Borinnnnnnnnnnnng. What I have seen so far, signing wise, with so many unknowns going to be a hard season ahead……. Again, and all down to the board.

  • Ironman says:

I remember us buying a player once before attitude stank got in loads of trouble and arrogant a certain Paulo Di Canio that went ok ;).
Durán clearly believes he is too good to play second fiddle to anyone and that arrogance is what you need in a striker. He wants the limelight and to be number 1. After his crossed irons last night if we get him when he boshes some goals in the Hammers fans will love him he will get his own chant and he will be loving life I can see it all now. It is a lot of money but if young Louis is worth 25 mill then this price can’t be far out. All transfers have gone through the roof not just this one.

  • Kip says:

Pursuing other targets I’ve heard that about 50 times in last month …🤣..not sure if I’m.on a villa site or west ham ..strange I would never go to other teams forums …most looking for arguments..waste of time …leave him there his attitude will come back to haunt them imo ….if its a couple mil below then that’s just pathetic..but who k ows

  • Lee Megs says:

You offered us £35m plus a youth player. Then decided to offer youth player a new contract. Villa have set out the price. That’s it. You paid silly money for Killman who is what? Your saviour? This lad will bang the goals in given minutes. Sullivan trying to play hardball and renegotiate with Monchi is futile.

    • vince says:

We paid what we felt was right for Kilman we wont pay it for duran because we dont think he is worth it . I dont know why villa fans cant understand this . Keep him and we’ll move on , you hd your valuation , we had ours . They didnt match , villa fans seem more obsessed with this than us which says to me we’ve dodged a bullet.

      • Alan says:

To be fair the tone of the article suggests its us that’s strugging to understand that Villa are under no obligation to lower their asking price. For whatever reason we seem surprised that Villa aren’t accepting offers below their valuation and brand them ‘too tough’ to deal with or whatever.

Given that this website posts at least 4-5 articles a day about Duran I’d say its us that’s obsessed.

  • Andy_Villa_10 says:

If you have walked away, then fair enough.

You tried to lower the price, we held strong & we couldn’t agree a price. Thats negotiating sometimes.

We smile & say thanks for the discussion & move on with no hard feelings.

Good luck for next season by the way.

The more of us from outside of the media & marketing favourite clubs that are at the top end of the table, the better.

  • Manny Omoyinmi says:

Villa will sell to us, after the 1st game of the season, why should they strengthen us before we play them.

  • Anon says:

We have 60k odd season ticket holders top fans but are cursed by incompetent useless owners. They are tight fisted despite stopping child tickets and oaps concessions allegedly to allow more money in transfer market. The truth is in their sctions

  • John Ayris says:

There comes a point when its time to look elsewhere. This is the second ITK source that has said that’s precisely what is now happening.

Duran is not the only game in town, move on.

  • Cliff says:

Pull out and go for Moroccan el nasyri better player or did he turn us down been bidding for him for three years

  • Kevin Whitehead says:

We will never by another striker, all they are interested is buying defenders what’s the use of that when we don’t score any goals, no disrespect but as much as I like Antonio he to old as a main striker and bowen is not a striker, as someone else said on here we will be using either of them two, not good enough !!

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Should let him go, if Villa want to sell him they will, seems like they are trying to teach him a lesson and who can blame them.

  • Jh says:

So yet again all that work and we won’t go extra 2mill ..if he is our number one target then just pay the asking price, we just going to start with Antonio again ain’t we

    • My left foot says:

Whether he’s worth 40m or not is irrelevant, that’s villa’s asking price. I personally think he will be worth that and more this time next year, providing he gets game time. If we’re serious about signing him just pay the 40m without any add ons and sell on fees. If they reject the offer, walk away and move on

  • RB K says:

I would be very happy if it’s shut down because of all the negatives around this deal , namely attitude of villa not to mention the player
also . However the most import bug bear for me is the disruption caused to the fan base by the unsavory inclusion of Orford in this transfer.
I have heard of sellon clauses for Duran being a high priority , but non for Orford , one of our best youngsters , coveted by Villa.
    Are we that dumb ?

  • Jerry Gold says:

Hooray, common sense at last. What a waste of time .Surely the board must have learn their lesson with Scamacca and Haller?
Paying huge sums doesn’t necessarily mean great team players.Bowen was the last great Hammers signing

  • Brendan says:

Sorry for the player but 40 m is too much. Villa won’t budge so go all out elsewhere. While we are at it don’t go for AWB as he already said no.

    • Alan says:

      Why should they budge?

Would you knock £50k off the price of your house for example just because the buyer doesn’t think what you’re asking for is fair?

      • Saint says:

You would have to if no one will buy it cos it’s over priced.

        • Alan says:

Depends on need. Whose is greater the seller or the buyer?

If I don’t need to sell desperately I’m holding out for a bit and seeing if I can get full asking. Particularly if I’ve got a motivated buyer thats made me three offers in the space of a few weeks going up each time. I’d be quite confident that I’ll get the asking price out of them eventually.

  • Danny says:

Villa fan in peace…. Look initially like a lot of us Villa fans we wanted him to stay but also appreciated he needs game time… he is 20 years of age has bags of potential and is explosive…. To us he is worth 40mill all day so irrelevant of what you think is a good offer that’s what we value him at. We are selling, if you walk away it’s up to you but I’m telling you now he’s gonna be a top player. Only problem is his attitude stinks, however if he bags you 15-20 goals no one cares… which by the way I could see him doing. UTV ….. good luck next season

    • Smithy says:

Completely agree Danny, as a fellow Villa fan you are 100% correct. Hammers can say he is worth this and that but he is worth what Villa value him at as owners of his contract which still has4 years to run. Yes he may be a pain but he has always played and done the job when required. Emery may sit with him when he gets back after his break to try to get It wo work for all parties. UTV!!

      • Kevin Perlmutter says:

Like any player, he’s worth what clubs will pay. First rule of commerce.

    • Alan says:

I completely agree. A player is worth what a buying club is willing to pay and a selling club willing to sell for. If the two sides can’t agree a deal, it doesn’t happen.

Villa can price their players at whatever they want. I don’t understand the ‘Too tough’ nonsense in the article and the tone of feeling hard done by or talking about what’s perceived as fair.

This is classic Sullivan. Always has to feel like he’s ‘won’ a negotiation and always leaks info throughout the process to clickbait sites like this one for whatever reason. Completely unprofessional. He’ll move on to strikers from his preferred agents now. The always injured Callum Wilson would be my guess.

    • David says:

If a player is valued at 40 million I’d expect him to get more game time at Villa.

      • Saint says:

Exactly. You can’t value a bit-part player at the same price Chelsea pulled out at. Villa are deluded. Sell him now for what is already an over-inflated price or face a problem in your dressing room. Either way it is Villa causing all the problems here. Why should West Ham pay over the odds for a reserve and untested potential first-team striker?

      • NJ says:

Well unfortunately the guy in front of him is £80million so….?

    • vince says:

And no matter what villa price him at we dont. We’ve moved on whats the issue , you keep him because nobody will buy him at that price and we’ll look elsewhere . Whats the problem. Hopefully all the villa fans can now go off back to their own sites .

  • Oz says:

Let villa have him in the dressing room for a year, kicking off at every opportunity, then snap him up in the winter window for 10 -20 mil max. I’m sure he will be welcomed back after giving the crossed hammers salute.

    • peter says:

you have a lucky escape he’s just a spoilt kid, his attitude will stop him reaching his potential, I hope we let him rot in our reserves, he might grow up then

    • Mendax says:

      £35 million for Toney?
Sure Brentford will bite your hand off🙄

    • Mandy says:

Duran was desperate to join Chelsea 2 months ago and will claim to be a fan of whoever shows an interest in him. He’s an embarrassment and if this transfer does fall through he’ll be sucking up to the next lot of fans of a potential suitor very shortly if anyone will have him once they’ve met him!

  • S D says:

Walk away, whilst he might have promise this has gone on for to long and let’s be honest he is no Messi

  • Dean hodges says:

It’s going to be Calvert lewin gonzo 🤣🤣

  • Jimbo says:

No don’t bud for Toney, unless we just want the spuds to pay more for him, cos he ain’t moving g to us.

  • Munky says:

Don’t understand what has been going on here. Villa want rid. He wants to leave. No one else is interested. I know everyone wants us to get deals done early, but if we had offered £25 plus some add ons and left it at that, Villa would have said no, but they’d have been back at the end of the window and taken it.
£25-30m is a fair price. We’ve already overpaid for Killman.

    • Mendax says:

So, because you’ve overpaid for Kilman, Villa should help you balance your books?
      Yeah, righto

      • Mandy says:

All of you Hammers moaning about the price, you knew the price when you first enquired and it hasn’t changed. Pay the 40m and stop moaning or move on. I’ve a feeling this will get done for the full asking price after we’ve played each other as the last thing we want is a wired Jhon Duran playing against us. Watch this space!

        • vince says:

We have moved on , youre the ones that seem obsessed about it . Im not sure why else youd be on west ham sites talking about it

      • vince says:

We havent overpaid for Kilman, we paid what we thought he was worth . You think Duran is worth 40 million , we’ll soon see when/if someone signs him for that price.

        • Munky says:

Think we did overpay for Killman mate. Wanted him in quick as Lops main target. Hopefully he does well and the extra 5m or so won’t matter.

      • Munky says:

If you want rid you need to reduce the price. Or keep him.

  • Jimbo says:

Walk on by. Villa can keep him at this price.

  • John Lattimore says:

    Go for Toney

  • Phil Baker says:

40 million is already 10-12 million over priced . No other clubs are going to pay that much and he won’t get much playing time in the next three years and so his skills are likely to atrophy . Scamacca failed under Moyes tactics , however was and is a far better player for 34 million that Westham paid compared to a relatively unproven Duran.

  • Paul says:

Villa realise we will not be shafted and come back in a week or so’s time and say we are willing to accept your last offer i would not even take the call….go offer £35million for Toney see what Brentford say.

  • David says:

Good but feel sorry for player once Villa exit champions league before knock outs and then europa league as back on bench thereafter Villa will regret not taking the ridiculous offer we made that included Orford

  • Anon says:

Sullivan strikes again another season Antonio number 1

    • Alan says:

Remember how long we clung on to Carlton Cole? Even when we released him, we re-signed him again. Similar story unfolding here.

Antonio is what 35 this season? We’ll be alternating between either him or Bowen being shifted out of position for another campaign. This site will inform us that the club feels there isn’t ‘good value’ in the market and we’ll end up signing whatever today’s equivalent of Andre Ayew is instead. Maybe that bloke from Leeds. We’ve seen it all before.

  • Ian says:

    Good

  • LORD ROBERT VENOUR says:

Was never gonna buy him another sully red herring to fool supporters again

Know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em, know when to walk away…..

    • Hamble Hammer says:

      Brilliantly said couldn’t agree more.

    • Mick says:

How come every other club manage to get players in double quick and hammers can’t. Embarrassing

      • Malcolm says:

Time to walk away from this one. Too expensive for an unproven premiership player. He might have the potential but at that price it is a high risk. Our past form on signing strikers is not great and this could end up being pretty much the same as the others

      • Dustin says:

I couldn’t agree more with your comment. There has to be something wrong with our offers. Has been happening for years now. Must be hierarchy are the problem.
