C&H Exclusive: Fullkrug Injury Worse Than Expected

Claret and Hugh has learned within the last few minutes that Niclas Füllkrug will be sidelined for at least three months.

The news comes from a top source at the London Stadium, who delivered the bad update following scans on both the German striker and winger Crysencio Summerville.

Füllkrug pulled up after just 13 minutes of West Ham’s FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa on Friday while attempting a sprint. The big summer signing from Borussia Dortmund has endured a torrid time since joining the Hammers.

The striker initially sustained an injury on international duty in September, keeping him out for three months, and now he faces a similarly lengthy spell on the sidelines again.

Speaking to Claret and Hugh, the insider revealed, “Sadly, Füllkrug is out for 12 weeks, so we are desperate for a striker.”

Claret and Hugh will provide further updates as the situation develops. For now, it couldn’t be a worse start to Füllkrug’s West Ham career, with the player said to be devastated.

What a waste of money ..one of the worst buys ever in prem ….what makes it worse is they knew knew he was injury prone..yet they still paid ridiculous money for him …now we just have ings
who is a championship forward at best…..pathetic buisness….especially when 5 million extra would of bought Duran…..they need to find some money , stop messing around and find a way to buy a top quality striker….they always think we’ll wait , thinking a top forward will fall in there lap …..pay up for quality…English quality….get it sorted

He is 32, homesick, injury prone, playing for a club he doesn’t want to play for, will have missed a full season of match fitness, will be out of the reckoning for Germany as a result and will not provide an opportunity to recoup the £27m paid for him and has another 3 years left on his contract at West Ham. Turning him into a success story is going to be a challenge.

    • Steve1 says:

He has suffered this season but how many times does it need to be pointed out that he was not “injury prone” when we bought him. He featured in 55 matches last season!!

It’s unlucky in the sense that he was working for the team . Nevertheless we need a young striker with pace and good finishing . We also need a box to box midfielder let’s go get the men Porter wants ⚒

  • Darkhorse says:

Blessing in disguise as it now puts the emphasis on signing a striker without delay

  • Joe says:

Man why the heck did we sign this guy? Looked decent for 12 minutes or whatever, first time he runs he ***** himself.. absolute shocking decision to bring him in

    • John Ayris says:

Because somebody decided not to pay a bit more for Duran and to go for a cheaper option instead.

If a bit more had been paid we’d have Duran not Fullkrug.

Incredibly that wasn’t even the worst decision at the time as the same somebody decided that Lopetegui was the best man for the job.

  • John Ayris says:

Not surprised as it looked like a serious hamstring as soon as he did it and that is the timescale for serious hamstrings. At least he was injured during a game and not crashing a second supercar.

  • Jeeps says:

He’s old in terms of footballers.
Older you are longer it takes to heal, 3 months could be 4 months.
Which virtually rights of remainder of season.
Media stated he was looking to go to Bournemouth before injury.
Potter needs to get his choice correct otherwise fans and media will be all over him like a rash
C&H prompted Jonathan David (previously linked to whu) which is a much better investment term.
Doesn’t have Duran’s ego and attitude problems.

  • Whippethammmer says:

The man’s made 100% from balsa wood.

    More important the Summerville outlook.

In Fullkrug’s case you can’t miss what you never had.

  • Morty says:

Any news on the Summerville scan Gonzo?

  • Hammeroo says:

My god, it just goes from bad to worse with the Halfkrug! If this doen’t put a nail in Tim Steidten’s coffin then nothing will. It’s not as if we can sell the player now to raise needed funds. It seems like the Fullkrug signing is cursed!
