West Ham are close to agreeing on a transfer deal with French club Paris Saint-Germain for midfielder Carlos Soler. The agreement is reportedly an initial 11-month loan with an obligation to buy next season, triggering a longer-term deal believed to be five years.
According to reports this morning from Spanish media, Real Sociedad dropped out of the running for Soler, who is now set to join The Hammers instead of the Basque club.
Julen Lopetegui’s influence seems to be the deciding factor in this surprising twist, with Soler favouring a move to the Premier League.
This has prompted West Ham to up the ante by constructing a transfer deal not dissimilar to the one that brought Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice to East London.
The Irons’ negotiating team has done an excellent job of spreading the cost of players by deferring payments in order to creatively work around some of the FFP (Financial Fair Play) & PSR obstacles.
What percentage is this likely to happen gonzo ?
I think that a signing like this is necessary, we need more midfield strength especially when there’s uncertainty hanging over Paqueta.
I think we also need players out now though, if we’re twisting rather than sticking then we need to twist.
We’re well past the point of there being integration issues, we’ve got them already.
Excellent news. Let’s hope Soler finally arrives. The sooner, the better.
Looks to be a very decent player. Good news.
Do we know something about the future of Paquetá? Is Soler his replacement in advance?
He will never stand the pace of this league……i fear it might be a season of similarity to when we were too good to go down !
“Hammers Agree Transfer package”
“West Ham are close to agreeing on a transfer deal”
Which is is? Who writes this nonsense?!
Not the player that we need one bit unless Alvarez returns as a fully functioning, all action no. 8.
Only room for two of Paqueta, Kudus and Soler in the team at the same time, and we don’t have a competent midfield as it is with no one to be our number 8….involved in buildup but also competent positionally when defending.
This guy is clearly not a strategic signing…not saying he’s not a good player, but offers nothing out of possession.
Hope this is noise and we go a hard pass, or setup an option not an obligation if he comes in.
Why couldn’t we have done that for Duran? Were villa not keen?
