Evan Ferguson is travelling to London to complete his West Ham medical later today, according to a London Stadium source.
Rumours that the transfer saga, which has lasted more than a month, was coming to an end began circulating within the past hour. So, C&H contacted a source at the club who confirmed the big Irish striker was on his way to East London to finalise the move.
The deal for Ferguson is believed to be a straight loan transfer with no obligation or option to buy. Negotiations had slowed in recent days as Brighton & Hove Albion sought to conclude a straight £40m transfer for the 20-year-old.
However, it would now seem the Hammers have got their way, and Ferguson will be reunited with his former Seagulls boss, Graham Potter.
The forward is understood to have been keen to join West Ham to link up again with his old boss in an effort to secure first-team football. Ferguson was a late substitute in yesterday’s humiliating 7-0 Premier League loss to Nottingham Forest.
if the Club have any doubts about his contribution for the rest of the season we shouldn’t sign him. If we believe him to deliver we should not sign him without an option…..this deal means we only win if he’s no good or injured!
Was never a fan of this one purely because of his injuries..but with no obligation I spose it’s good ..what happens if he hits ground running and has a really good second half of season….do we get a choice then ….what i mean is he could be brilliant so we want to keep him ..but Brighton will snatch him back cus he scored hat full ( hopefully) ..can’t have it both ways I spose …but do we get a say in it ?
Hope he does well an option would have been good because if he does well his price could increase
All we can do now is wait & see! I have always respected Ferguson, he seems to be over the ankle injury, which many players have now & then, but it has been another West Ham farce, and it is all down to one person! When will we have a good top owner?
Good news, seems odd not to have an option to buy – at least a choice? If he does really well off he goes to Chelsea or whoever and we are just a shop window opportunity. At least we aren’t stuck with him though if he doesn’t deliver or has big injury issues. Just be a wasted opportunity if he goes after doing well with only a few months with us adding nothing for the longer term.
Fitness will be the deciding factor for this to be brilliant or disastrous as a player he is just what we need let’s hope it is in our favour
Not having an option is regrettable, but if it goes tits we’re not on to loser.
Best case scenario would be to see him ‘do a Lingard’, be so respected by the club and fans, love reuniting with Potter to the point that he makes his move to us permanent on a realistic fee.
IF all goes well.
It’s the potential for injuries that trouble.
I think the loan deal is sensible, we will all get a good look at him and see if he fits. If he turns out to be useful then we pay if not back to Brighton. Hope the fans give him a chance, he’s still a young lad.
Seems like a short term solution to an immediate problem, if true will be interesting to see what he can do and if he can stay fit. If he smashes it and we somehow get in the European places will have been worth it.
Given the injury record an obligation to buy was impossible. An option to buy would have been nice but it’s easy to see why Brighton wouldn’t want to offer that. A straight loan until the end of the season isn’t criticisable.
Lets hope he keeps fit as it’s very foreseeable that he might not do, twenty minutes yesterday proves very little.
If correct that will be end of recruitment.

Shame it doesn’t come with an option. If he has a successful loan then Brighton won’t sell or just rip our arm off in the summer but buggers can’t be choosers 👍🏻
