Breaking news: Ogbonna passes medical

Angelo_Ogbonna_BGR-ITA_2012ClaretandHugh understands that Angelo Ogbonna has paseed his West Ham medical and is set to sign for the club later today.

The 27-year-old will become Slaven Bilic’s first key signing after he made it clear to the owners from day one that bolstering the Hammers defence was his priority.

Ronald Koeman’s Southampton are understood to have made an eleventh hour attempt to hijack the deal but – like Everton before them – the Saints were knocked back by the Senegalese international.

We were told by a senior Hammers source: “We have no idea at what stage the club may announce the deal but – apart from any late hiccups – it now looks done and dusted.”

Sorry to say it but I think Noble will be on his way, before anyone has a pop it’s not what I want,
We will need to raise money for the other n w signings and we have to look where we have cover already,
Noble,Nolan,Jarvis,Tomkins,Zarate, and Carroll could all go if the price is right,
Downing will go and one way or the other so will Magia,
That’s progress but I only think Noble and Tomkins leaving would upset the fans

Now Ogbanna has filled the left sided centre back slot, we only need a right back. I would love to see Mark Noble tried there instead of a Gooner on loan.He has the engine and the tackling ability, yes he lacks a turn of pace but He gives 100% takes penalties defends the post from corners and is West Ham through & through.
It would be a great shame to have him warming the bench for weeks.

Luckily Italian internationals don’t go running off to the African cup of nations every 2 years: in the middle of the season.

Hugh is still having flashbacks to hippo & his love of a senegalese player.Only a long course of therapy can help him 😉

If we beat Soton and Everton in this battle, it proves my point. That we are stronger than the table suggests, and that we should go after, at least try to go after, players one level up compared to Stoke, Palace and Swansea.

At the rumoured £27,000 pw this might be a great deal!!!

He still isn’t a Senegalese international though 😀

Good, another decent defender with a stable of young guns behind them. All rainbows and sunshine for me 🙂

Will be interesting to see this guy and if hes any good in the prem.

Think its a good signing from Billics point of view though. Chairmen thought we had enough CBS, manager didn’t. Chairmen backed him. Not sure that would of happened with the sap of manager we had last year!

Just need a CF (Austin hopefully) and a decent winger now IMO.

      • COYI@HK says:

I think he meant to sign Ogbonna, but signed Obiang instead…

He knew what he was doing all along. The blokes a multi millionaire businessman, as if he’d make a simple stupid mistake like that. It was all a game in my eyes

Let us all hope there are no hiccups. look a good signing and will bring some international class to the defence which, can only be a benefit during an European run.
    youtube videos look quite impressive.
