The deal for Graham Potter to become West Ham United’s next manager has been completed.
While precise details remain scarce, Claret & Hugh has heard from a reliable source that the “Potter deal is done.”
As reported earlier, Julen Lopetegui is currently at West Ham’s Rush Green training ground and is expected to be dismissed today.
Last night, Claret & Hugh revealed that Graham Potter’s representatives had been pushing for a two-and-a-half-year contract, while West Ham’s negotiating team initially sought to offer a six-month deal.
It now appears a compromise has been reached. Potter will reportedly have the ability to trigger his preferred contract length if he meets specific performance targets this season. While the exact details of these targets remain undisclosed, further information is expected to emerge informally over the coming hours.
As it stands, Graham Potter has agreed to the terms and is set to become West Ham’s next head coach. Announcement will be made officially in due course but the deal is done.
Roll out the bubble machine and hope they don’t burst?
Potter will require more than 6 months to sort out the situation at West Ham but he has the ability if given the time and money.
Let’s be honest. Anyone who made their money via the poem industry, especially in the 70’s and 80’s, doesn’t give a fook about people’s feelings
Poem insist 🤣 god bless autocorrect
No time for Lopeteguis football methods and style. But you wouldn’t treat a dog the way the porno baron his related him. Surely it would’ve been better to have him in give him his notice and thank him and put an interim manager in charge. Hang your head in shame Sully
Class obviously bypassed you when you were born.
Why the continual knocks on Sullivan. Do anyone else remember the state we were in when the Icelandic Bankers almost destroyed our club? And then Prior to that, what did Terry Brown and co. do for us?
So Sullivan out, but who comes in? No Saudi, Emirati as they have their own. No Russian, not allowed. No American – Look at the Glazers!! Kretinsky, hasn’t done much to convince Sullivan to sell etc.
It is all very good and well to criticise Sullivan and co. They make mistakes, and are slow on the uptake, but seriously, I do not see a queue of people wanting to buy our club, and I am sure if the money came to Sullivan he would happily sell!
Finally a new manager. Not everyone’s first choice, but no-one would be.
Support the club. COYI
Well said Happyish Hammer
Finally, some common sense. Well said
Why the continual knocks on Sullivan? So your theory is that because we had two bad owners, one that isn’t as bad is a good owner?
He’s a dreadful owner and as for who comes in, that’s a stupid question. Before Bloom took over Brighton no-one would have said ‘ah yeah I know that multi-millionaire who might be interested’, or Bournemouth’s owner, or Brentford’s etc. No-one knows who might buy the club unless you had knowledge of every billionaire, hedge fund, company etc. Most clubs are also bought by consortiums, as i’m sure you know, so again, it makes it a stupid point.
All these clubs have forward thinking chairman who have a plan to progress – Sullivan does not. He makes bad decision after bad decision. Our club is a genuine sleeping giant, and we’ll never, ever, wake up with that @@@@@@in charge.
Even if Potter is the new man Sullivan and co have to my mind done a bad deal.
Potter as is rumoured has 6 month deal and if certain targets reached he can trigger the two year extension…..But what happens say if Potter really does pull off a better than expected finish the clubs playing good football and we are all happy but suddenly you hear that Potter has decided not to trigger the extension and walk away to say a more professionally run club.
Egg on the boards faces again and who really wants to work for such a poor and professionally run organisation….Again until Sullivan shuffles off his mortal coil he is and always will be the stumbling block behind any kind of progression because he bought us not for football but for the money he can make and that is all that interests him.
Not my personal choice, but we were never going to get the sort of manager we need/ want with Sullivan in control.
We’d got to the point of ABL (anyone but Lopetegui) who, had he remained in charge could and probably would have dragged us into real trouble.
Potter will hopefully at least get the players back ‘on board’ and has the remainder of the window at least.
No human should be treated in the workplace in the manner Lopetegui has been and this is entirely due to the character and morals of our Chairman, who has previous as we know.
SHAME ON SULLIVAN, he really has shown himself yet again to be a completely odious character.
Been handled badly..feel a bit sorry for loopy ..going in to work while they are plastering the news everywhere…I’m glad he’s gone but could of been done a bit more professionally
Glad it’s happened and we move on.
But so badly handled by the West Ham board.
Loopa was not the right choice and it’s worked out this way.
However to be treated like this at the end of his tenure is disappointing and disgusting.
Credit to him for continuing to do his job.
If it was me I would have told the hierarchy at West Ham to stick it.
Irrespective of how badly this has been handled by our useless chairman, Potter is absolutely the right appointment.
We all asked for a manager who plays good football, understands the club, can work with modern day analysis/scouting (not just whoever Will Salthouse throws at us), Premier league experience and plays youth and Potter is all of that. Plus experience in taking a low block football team full of championship players into one the most attractive footballing teams in the entire league.
Well, after the saga of the long drawn out Moyes parting and now the shameless and unprofessional handling of the Lopetegui termination I for one will not spend another penny on ticket’s, merchandise, shirts or training kit until Sullivan is OUT! Enough is Enough.
Well done. That money enables transfers. So you’re not punishing Sullivan by not buying stuff. You’re punishing the fans.
Breaking news from a reliable source. Is this the Golden Snitch? Not a whisper on the official site.
Should we all be celebrating this latest ‘news’? My bubbly supply has all gone flat after being uncorked over the last fortnight. I may resort to a cup of tea if I can manage to contain my excitement until anything actually happens.
Cheers & COYI
It’s not a day to feel proud.
Lopetegui absolutely needed to go but it has been dealt with appallingly.
As for Potter – Welcome to West Ham boss.
Well said John
I agree although Lopetegui had to go this saga shows how poor our board are!
Couldn’t agree more. We are lucky any manager would want to join us with how those boardroom jokers treat them.
Nero fiddling, while Rome burns, comes to mind Del
COWBOYS AND CROOKS
What an absolute s*** show our club is at the moment.
There’s no like button, so have one of these:
👍
Let’s just hope that this debacle is now over and we, the paying and praying, supporters can get back to watching the team we love get their act in order and give us something to cheer about ⚒️
Hooray! Part 1 of the puzzle complete.
Part 2, is Sullivan ‘retiring’ from his role as WHU mob boss and allowing Steidten and other football people to run the club, ushering in a new, more professional era of management from CEO to boot boy.
Perhaps GP can help towards that by providing insight to how things run at Brighton!
I just don’t see how a new manager can come in before the previous one day has been sacked? Typical way to do things at Wedt Ham.
I agree.I think it’s a disgrace the way this has been handled.
Although I didn’t want to keep Lopetegui I do feel sorry for him the way he has been treated
Isn’t it the best way to do things? Having a replacement in place before pulling the trigger.
What shouldn’t be happening is playing it out in the public eye, making us look foolish & amateur.
Should just be announced that Loppi has gone & Potter has been brought into replace him, after it has all been agreed
