Tammy Abraham is reportedly close to joining West Ham on loan with an option to buy, according to breaking news reports.

The information appears to originate from football insider and journalist Nicolò Schira, who has provided detailed updates, which are also being reported as factual elsewhere. However yesterday C&H reported that the club had informed us they had no idea where the Abraham rumours had come from.

Schira has since claimed that West Ham’s loan deal for Abraham would include an obligation to buy if the injury-prone striker reaches a certain number of games.

When Claret & Hugh asked a top Hammers club insider yesterday, we were told there was no truth to the Raheem Sterling or Tammy Abraham transfer rumours. However, we were cryptically informed, “We have enough wingers,” which obviously doesn’t cover the AS Roma striker.

The club have denied the Abraham rumours at every opportunity and we have enquired on three separate occasions but maybe Schira has heard differently.

Julen Lopetegui is known to want two players for every position in the Irons squad. However, with Michail Antonio, Niclas Füllkrug, and Danny Ings already in place, the Abraham deal doesn’t seem to make sense unless players are leaving. This story does have the whiff of agent led speculation.

As always, we’ll keep you updated on the latest transfer news and gossip as it breaks.

What a terrible signing and waste of money. I hope this is nonsense. Nobody who has watched him over the past few seasons has had a good thing to say about him. He had one outstanding season, the second was terrible, so was the third, then he got inured and has done nothing since his return but look disinterested, as he was at Chelsea. Another big time Charlie.
We just don’t need another liabilty, especially for that money.

Whatever your ‘trusted insider’ is telling you, they’re either playing games with you or lying.

whilst i expect a number of fans have hit the red button and gone ballistic over getting in a striker with a long history of injuries i would like to point out that is no difference to having a fullback winger come striker who is a regular in A&E with his hamstrings and missing lots of games through that…this mans a loan if he hits the ground running he will score more than Antonio and will be the perfect foyle for bringing on Fullkrug …. i suspect Ants or Ings will be moving on.

So this is a smokescreen then?

For us it is all guesswork. Unless Stiedten is doing something in the background (he has been quiet lately) and given that it is almost COB Tuesday, it is looking increasingly unlikely that WHU will sign anyone else before January. LB position needs strengthening and if they feel the need to add to the front line, I cannot believe TS cannot find an under 25 UK candidate that would be a much better prospect than Tammy Abrahams.
