Romano: Hammers make shock transfer bid

Fabrizio Romano has broken the news that West Ham have made a bid for USA striker Ricardo Pepi.

The 22-year-old striker scored the winner in PSV Eindhoven’s victory over Liverpool last night, inflicting Arne Slot’s first Champions League defeat of the season.

And now, transfer ITK Romano has revealed that the Hammers have made a surprise €25m bid for the in-form striker.

Pepi has scored 11 goals in 18 Eredivisie games—despite only being named in the starting lineup five times and primarily playing as a substitute. Despite limited game time, his goal tally is the second-highest in Holland.

The former Dallas frontman was named MLS young player of the year in 2021 and has joint US & Mexican citizenship.

Posting on social media, Romano Wrote: “West Ham submit official bid for USMNT striker Ricardo Pepi worth €25m package, loan with obligation to buy. Understand PSV Eindhoven have rejected the proposal.”

If true, it suggests that the club have been keeping certain transfer business very much under wraps, moving for a player who hasn’t featured prominently in the gossip columns this month.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

naive. to think that this site is giving out news nobody already knows about is laughable in itself. it’s news to us, but not those working in those circles. we are the last to know

I’ll look forward to the ‘exclusive’ tomorrow where C&H’s TOP SOURCE at the club says this story is rubbish. Maybe chuck in a few remarks along the lines of January being a difficult month to do business in and the club being up against it PSR wise also for good measure.

🤣🤣🤣 exactly what I said and throw in a few bits of injury news that players are coming back ..meaning no need to buy …its so. obvious bud isn’t it
.you can read the club like a book …
      Pathetic
