Breaking: West Ham To Meet £40M Transfer Demand

The Mail Online is reporting that West Ham are set to intensify our interest in striker Jhon Duran and meet Aston Villa’s £40 million valuation following yesterday’s rejected offer.

The Midlands club has already turned down a transfer bid of £32 million for the Colombian striker in a cash-plus-player deal, which would have seen 18-year-old Irons midfielder Lewis Orford move the other way, along with a significant sell-on clause.

The article does not specify whether Orford will be included in the new proposal; however, following yesterday’s fan reaction to the move, it seems highly unlikely.

West Ham are under intense pressure to get a transfer over the line after the collapse of recent attempts to address the problem position of right-back. Today’s news on the failure of the Hammers’ pursuit of Noussair Mazraoui has prompted the club into action, and one would expect the updated offer to be accepted by the Villains.

Aston Villa have driven a hard bargain throughout negotiations for Duran and have remained steadfast in their valuation of £40 million. It would be an incredible amount of money to pay for an unproven player, despite the 20-year-old’s undeniable potential.

Villa fan here,, your getting a young hungry striker that will get you goals, is attitude is a bit immature but he’s only young, he’s going to be a great signing if he grows up a bit .. utv

Duran wanted to emulate Juan Pablo Angel at Villa, didn’t get regular games instantly and suddenly he ‘dreamed’ of playing for Chelsea all his life, following their players on social media and liking all their content, Chelsea then decided after unsettling him that they didn’t want him and now suddenly he is doing the crossed hammers sign and desperate to play for West Ham 🤷‍♂️ he is fast, he is strong and the lad can put the ball in the net but you will also be getting an ego which could upset the dressing room, for me he is like Ballotelli 2.0. Good luck to West Ham, I hope it works better for you than it has for us

I’m a Villa Fan, have been all my life and at nigh sixty years I must say EVERYONE wants teams like the Hamsters (sorry Hammers) to flourish in the top flight. It’s where they belong and they’ve been in dire need of a serious goal scorer for some time. I hate the fact Duran wants to leave but like it was with Carney ChuckyWuckyMucky his minset was just too YOUNG to sit, wait and learn from those who knew better. But the huge differewnce in that is Durans formidable strength, presence and power bothy on and off the ball. Moving to a team that better suits him with more than one striker up front etc will benefit all concerned… except perhaps Villa who KNOW he’s highly likely to be as premiership top scorer this season… given the chance of course. 40m is a lot but not a rip off… its becuase Villa KNOW it’s going to cost them and a huge loss of a massive future prospect. I hope WH manage to meet the price as it will ensure they STAY a top ten team in the premiership without question and perhaps even higher once all settled.

Prefer Toney proven at this level.

  • A West says:

He’ll hold the ball up well and bring the 3 around him into play. We’re not signing him to score 30 goals, we’re signing him so Bowen and Kudus can get 15 each. He’ll score 7 or 8 goals a season. Is he worth 40 million? Probably not, do we need a new striker that can get us up the pitch..absolutely. Sign him.

  • Pongo says:

Girondins bordeaux have gone under been demoted to tier 3 in the French pyramid and are taking on amateur status so all there players that they can no longer afford to keep, are either up for sale or being let go, wouldn’t mind batting sullivan is all over this one, just what he likes freebies and bargain basement deals.

  • Martin storrie says:

Can it get any worse, the board blaming all & sundry for dithering, will a striker ever get signed, if one does come we still need 2/4 more players, how long will that take to achieve, I’m ready to hung myself already, every transfer is the same old shambles, penny pinching, as is every transfer window, we are the laughing stock, Sullivan get a grip & get these transfers completed, only 3 weeks to start of season & your charging us fans enough so give us something back in return.

  • Hammers54 says:

why the he’ll do we muck about bringing new players in wr could have got parmer last season but would not pay the full amount no try to get it lower what a player he is doubled that value. Now that is same with diverging now they need to buck up please coyi get players in time is running out anyway I’m looking forward to new change it’s got to a lot better than last season coyi

  • Bryn says:

Have to admit, as a Villa fan. I definately see why Villa demand so high a fee.. unproven??? I think not… thats why theyre holding out for the full 40 mil. If the Hamsters stump up I forsee Duran setting records as a top scorer. And the result of that will be Villa regretting losing him. Everyone knows Unai didnt wish him to leave but as with Carney Chuckywuckymucky, when a players simply not happy and wants out.. theres little can be done about it. the Hammers will have a formidable striker in Duran of that theres no doubt at all.

  • Danny church says:

Two players with potential for 65m one from Brazil and the other from Columbia with a limited budget the mind boggles

    • Jeeps says:

If striker transfer had been handled professionally there were many more options available.
      To much flapping around.
Hope paying this fee is not going to jeopardise other players which are needed.
      C/bk, l/bk, left winger.

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Nice to hear Bryn, haven’t seen it so far but you will have a better idea of his potential

  • Craig says:

Does anyone know who put forward the idea of Orford being used as a bit part player?

  • Tom Duffy says:

It’s Sullivan playing he’s usual game of trying to get he’s cut out of the price . So the transfer drags on and on and the usual stuff comes out greedy agents, greedy players, too much money. Every transfer window it’s the same nonsense. We miss out on a few players because of this nonsense. The fans get irritated and frustrated and start moaning on West Ham sites. Next thing the club go back and pay the price the selling club wanted all along. They could have paid a few weeks ago. Tim must be pulling his hair out just how amateurish West Ham are. How not to run a football club. Nothing will change until Sullivan/ Brady go . It’ll be exactly the same in the January window that’s if they buy anyone . Clowns.

  • Mavded says:

The p******feeling the pressure to get a deal over the line and after a week of negotiations that see us coming up short every time for one reason or another i think **** has pushed the panic button to get a deal done to appease Tim and Jlo for fear if the latter getting fed up with the run around and walking away

I am a season ticket holder watched irons since 1963 seen good times and bad last season was one dyer season of football I have ever seen looking forward to new start now coyi

  • Jh says:

Strikers don’t come cheap, rather this than another risk of buying another scamacca and others who have failed for one reason or another

    • B says:

No more Moyes, no more striker failures… that’s the wish anyway?
Still confused why there was no move for El-Nesyri.

My Question: Is Duran really the best option available for £40mil.?

    • Martin says:

As a Villa fan I really wish Duran could buckle down and stay with us. In two years he would be the main man and we would cash in on Watkins. He’s impatient and I get it. He is worth £40m there is no doubt, and I would rather he went outside the Premier League. Check out his highlight reel if you are not convinced.

    • Bill Ryan says:

Schammaca Haller ings all failed under moyse yet have scored everywhere else since Moyes came in he got extremely lucky using inverted wingers as strikers arnoutovic Antonio and Bowen yet put a proper centre forward in front of him and he didn’t have a clue how to play them as I said he got extremely lucky

  • Micky Villa says:

Another Villa fan here guys… I really like Duran and he has bags of potential. He is a 20 y/o kid but has big boy strength, is a nightmare to defend against and has a lot of talent.

Your main task will be to keep his head screwed on, but I believe he’s ready to lead the line in the Prem, just not ahead of Watkins and, although obviously biased, I don’t really see that as a slight on Duran.

From a Villa perspective, we don’t want to miss out on that future value but he will be good for it!
Be prepared to pull your hair out occasionally but game time will only do him good.. and he’ll have you off your seats.

    Enjoy Hammers

  • Paul Messina says:

Any news on whether there is a sell-on clause or not? I hope for that kind of fee that there wouldn’t be.

  • Paul Allen says:

Villa fan here… £40M is a lot of money for Duran but the kid has potential, but think of it being half of what Man Ure paid for that (injury prone) donkey they’ve got up front, & imo, Duran has 2x the potential. Anyway ‘ammers, hope you have a good season, my father in law is West Ham so would class you guys as my 2nd team 👍🏻

    • Kip says:

Thank you mate …all the best in c.l I’ll be rooting for you …my best friend is a villan 👍👍

  • Selwyn James says:

Same old West Ham everyone seems to want to turn us down, been going on for years, surely we can find another Alan Taylor from somewhere.

    • Paul Starbuck says:

That’s because it’s sullivan doing the negotiation. Then blames Steidten if goes tits up cos don’t pay the going rate .

    • Ade Coker says:

Taylor played for us from 74-79 and got 20 goals in that time. Is that what we are looking for, four or five goals a season? Ings would do better

  • Finchy77 says:

I would have liked wissa from brentford, I reckon we would have change out of that too

  • John Ayris says:

It’s top dollar no doubt, but this fella has been kept out by Watkins and I believe that he will do well provided that he doesn’t become a disruptive influence for me is the biggest risk.

  • Kip says:

For the love of God take an 8 million risk…it might pay of …they have wasted money on far sillier things…just pay the 40….its about time this club had a proper striker ……all transfers are risks …but just do something

    • Ade Coker says:

Yes why not overpay by millions and therefore reduce the ability to improve other areas of the squad. Then criticize the negotiating team for being amateurs and having their ‘pants pulled down’ by Villa
