‘Big Changes and big calls by Lopetegui!!!

West Ham United coach Head Julen Lopetegui has made his team selection for today’s trip to West London, and addressed the issues faced by Alvarez’ ban. Big changes and big calls made by our Spanish head coach as he seeks a win.

In changes to previous line ups, Jean Clair Todibo lines up for his first Premier League start. Antonio starts in attack with Kudus and Bowen either side.

The full eleven is:

West Ham United: Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson, Rodríguez, Souček, Paquetá, Bowen ©, Kudus, Antonio

West Ham currently sit fourteenth in the Premier League with four points but will today hope to extend this season’s ‘unbeaten away’ run to three. A win today would certainly soothe frayed tempers after recent results and get us all looking back up the table instead of downwards. Claret and Hugh’s ‘Match Report’ follows the game and check back for Gonzo’s player ratings which appears almost as soon as the game has ended!

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".

Ffs – 1-0 down in the first minute! WTF is going on?

    • Martin Treasure says:

Half clearance, bobble around d and a swinging volley by Mbueno that he actually sliced. coulda gone anywhere but of course, nestled in the top corner. We’ve looked quite good apart from that but TOO SLOW going forward. Bad mix of Rodriguez and Soucek in the middle. Need Soler for Rodriguez and Summerville ASAP
Thought Todibo and Kilman looked half decent after first minute TBF

Oh, come on, martin…simple…just look at how many goals we have conceded already this season ….Nuff said ….I’m.in bed reading already……49 years i supported them but sometimes I’ve learned to not let it bother me as it used to …we will always tread water with theses owners and board …

  • Andy Stone says:

That’s a very slow midfield. With a high line I’m not that hopeful.

  • John Ayris says:

I thought Todibo would replace Mavropanos eventually. Alvarez must stop getting booked so often, he’s no good to us suspended and has caused an issue today.

Last I saw Brentford had injury issues and are not as good as Man C, Liverpool, Villa so I’m hopeful for a result today.

FFS – Starting Antonio and Summerville left on the bench after his great performance against Liverpool. What is the manager thinking?

Only redeeming features are seeing Wan Bissaka return and Luis Guilherme finally make the bench and what an exciting debut he could make. Big calls today and let’s hope for a much better performance and 3 points to get our season going.

  • Jay says:

Summerville has been our best player in the last two games he has started. It seems inconceivable that he is dropped to the bench for this game. Hope to see him introduced as early as possible. Probably for Antonio who I can only see as being ineffective from the start and should only be used as an impact substitute. I hope he proves me wrong, however.

    • Martin Treasure says:

Agreed, Jay, re Summerville, At least we know Lopetegui makes fast substitutions if needed so I’d hope Antonio will get hooked and S’ville introduced if Antonio doesn’t put a shift in

  • Hammeroo says:

So it looks like Kudus is on the left wing again and Summerville misses out on a start. Let’s hope that Antonio can have a good game in the middle. At least Bowen gets to play in his favoured position on the right wing. COYI. ⚒️

  • Geoff in Johannesburg says:

    FFS……no Summerville!!!
    I give up.
