Number one West Ham target in this window is Brighton’s young powerhouse Evan Ferguson. The trouble is, everyone wants him.
Reports earlier today suggested Brighton were dealing with interest from twenty clubs who want to loan or buy the young Republic of Ireland forward.
Developments tonight reported by The Athletic suggest rather than negotiate a simple loan deal, Brighton could be prepared to sell their striker who is now third choice at The Amex.
“Brighton are also open to the possibility of selling Ferguson at the right price, if the circumstances suit both club and player. Brighton sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, indicated a permanent bid for Ferguson has already been rejected. We reported in November that Brighton were expected to make Ferguson available for loan during the winter transfer window, while today’s DealSheet cited interest from West Ham United”
Quite whether West Ham are willing to throw ‘Jhon Duran’ kind of money at acquiring Ferguson will emerge in the next day or so: With so many club interested, the striker’s price will rise. According to The Athletic, Brighton have already rejected one permanent bid, but are willing to entertain others if the price matches their valuation of the player.
Earlier last week a figure of £45 million was reported for an outright sale which ‘should’ be within West Ham’s reach, although no doubt the club will want to buy him on the ‘never-never’ and stretch the payments over several years. With so much reported interest in the player the final price could go beyond West Ham’s pocket and hit £60 million.
Time to push the Claret and Blue boat out!
i would dodge it
play paqueta upfromt with summeville kudas and bowen
wait untul the summer
we aint going down
Dont bother.. He will be another flop.. West Ham the strikers graveyard
“Brighton’s young powerhouse.”
Did you pick those words Martin? 🤣
what is he, 6 ft 3″? and i’m sure he knows how to score goals. sounds good
a young, injury-prone striker. hmm 🤔 just thinking of how many big blokes early in their football careers have been susceptible to injury and have, as time as goes on, become LESS susceptible to further injury. Dean Ashton, Jack Collison, Andy Carroll, and that’s only OUR players. Leadley King! Armando Broja seems to be doing well 😂 i’m sure there are numerous others. anyway, you can see what i’m getting at, so….let’s go get him!!! 😁
having said that, whover does get him and at whatever the price, it’s gonna be a steal….
….for Brighton 😏😉
Buying another injury prone player. …I honestly can’t believe what I’m hearing…to be honest i don’t think we’ll sign anyone…its to late and the we tried saying will pop up I’m.sure .
Looks like the ditherer has gone..but dithering is part of the clubs weapon in not buying players now…they saw the advantage in dithering 🤣
You would think we would have learned from the legion of players we have bought that are injury prone that it’s not a successful policy. Unless we have hired Jesus as lead physiotherapist I would warn Sully to not pay over the odds.
60 million pounds? That is madness. For that kind of money you could buy a really good striker in Spain, Portugal or South America. For example, Gyökeres from Sporting, has scored 6 goals in 7 appearances in the Champions so far. He is valued at about 75 million euros.
Our scouting department is clueless.
Does anyone know what we are actually looking for in a striker for this window?
I assume they must be fit and raring to go, have goals in them and fill the gaping hole we have upfront.
Not seeing any targets so far that fill that criteria. Of course it comes down to money and clearly we are not serious about the transfers, otherwise we would pay now to address the serious shortcomings that Sullivan has left us in with his terrible negotiating skills.
I don’t understand why we went and got Macauley either unless we had a plan on what stats we are looking for in a striker.
This is typical Sullivan saying get me someone cheap, find me a bargain basement option.
Silva, Brobbey, Ferguson, Alberto, Guessand etc etc are just so he can say we tried.
If we get someone it’ll be whomever would agree a cheap option, not what we really needed in a striker. Anyone one found Boogers yet? 😆
Madness if we spend £45m on him, let alone £60m. Injured a lot, has been far from mediocre let alone prolific and as mentioned a bunch of times, is nowhere near being ready to play.
We can make do with Bowen up front or Paqueta as a false 9 for the rest of the season. Europe is unlikely at the end of the season with or without a new striker so why waste money on Ferguson? Is he any better than Fullkrug? Both won’t be ready until at least March either. A BIG no-no from me.
I agree completely, he is injury prone and third choice at Brighton.
Total madness going for him
It all points to André Silva on loan, well at least a forward. The worse case scenario is not getting a forward in. Remember Di michelle and the other one.
Can’t keep himself fit at 20 years old no wonder Brighton are now happy to sell him.
If we are going to push the boat out you get Boniface or guessand
£60 million with his injury record! Ferguson has scored 1 goal in only 12 games this season and is still recovering from his ankle injury with Fabian Hurzeler confirming he is still not match fit. Danny Welbeck, Joao Pedro and Georginio are all ahead of him at Brighton.
Time to push the boat out on a permanent transfer? Not a chance.we need to move on as Bayer Leverkusen are now reported to be leading the chase after reports tonight that they have entered talks with Saudi side Al Nassr for Victor Bonniface, and a reported fee of £43 million. Ironically the same player we were rumoured to be interested in last year, and the Saudi team who were also interested in Jhon Duran. The deal has not been completed yet so there might still be a chance if we were to move quickly. Odds of 20-1 in getting Ferguson or a player who has scored 29 goals in 49 games for Leverkusen?
Could be too late, according to Sky Germany, Leverkusen have agreed a deal to sell the Nigerian striker Victor Boniface to Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr. Boniface has already agreed personal terms with the Saudi team where he would join Christiano Ronaldo if the deal is completed. Al Nassr have also been strongly linked with a new bid for Jhon Duran. Boniface has been injured since November and returned last weekend.
This would allow Leverkusen to bring in Ferguson with Marseille also keen. They are managed by former Brighton Manager Roberto De Zerbi.
Hell NO to Fergurson . He’s currently injured AGAIN and so isn’t even close to match fit . If he recovers from his injury it’ll take the rest of the season to find some form . I’d rather Westham sign no one and get an injury free quality striker who’s not already suffered a bunch of injuries later in the summer . Westham’s season is quite dead after LOSEpetegui’s awful reign and so no need to waste money on the forlorn hope of Euro football .
Usual January madness, everyone wants a striker but best to sit this one out as silly money for Brighton 3rd choice really illustrates Premier league at its worst!
Payments on all transfers are spread out, usually over the length of the contract.
If he was really worth the figure quoted, he wouldn’t be behind Danny Welbeck in the pecking order!!
Leverkusen want him, they’re selling Boniface to Saudi.
I’m not convinced that he won’t be a sicknote so he’s probably a dodged bullet.
The geezers been injured for how long now ?
See Leverkusen are interested in him and are listening to offers for Boniface from Saudi so why aren’t we going to Leverkusen saying you can have a free run at Ferguson but we want Boniface at the price your willing to sell him to Saudi….of course if Boniface wants an early retirement then he’ll choose to go there for the money but if he wants to play in the Prem then we should be all over him..
