Brighton the bogey team no more (hopefully)

|

Brighton and Hove Albion are known as being one West Ham’s bogey team but that might no longer be the case this afternoon.

West Ham’s nemesis was Glenn Murray who scored a controversial late equaliser as Brighton snatched a 3-3 draw at the London Stadium.

The veteran striker, starting a Premier League match for the first time since September, grabbed his seventh career goal against the Hammers in the 79th minute.

The ball appeared to hit Murray’s arm before he fired home but a VAR check decided otherwise, to disbelief in the stands when the replay was shown.

In September 2020 Murray signed a one-year loan deal with Watford meaning the 37-year-old’s  days of scoring against us appear to have come to an end.

The Hammers first placed Brighton on 17th October 1903 and have played a total of 53 times since.

West Ham have won 18 games, 17 have been drawn and 18 games have been lost.

The last three meetings between West Ham and Brighton have all ended in draws.

West Ham haven’t beaten Brighton in any of the last six meetings (D3, L2), with a 6-0 Championship win in 2012 their most recent victory.

The last two meetings at West Ham ground have produced a total of 10 goals.

That was the worse 45 mins of the season. Pathetic! Moyes got all he deserved, picking that team. Starting to lose patience with him now.
Hopefully at least two subs on from restart and turn it round. Won’t be happy if Nobes comes back out 😡😡😡

This could be Hallers’ last game for West Ham . No positional sense and rather sluggish .
No way is he a premiership player . West Ham look like a team trying for a draw . Moyes needs to change three players to start the second half . Noble is so negative , can’t keep playing sideways and expect to win games . Frankly disappointing watching west ham this first half . 🙏 do something positive Moyes .

Awful awful awful…we have found a good system and played well …but I tell you what why dont we change all of that and start playing noble at home against Brighton..pathetic..1,0 down half time …no work rate at all just awful…back to the old west ham …
The mind boggles ,,,,WHY……back to chasing games …ffs

Why can Moyes not see what everyone in football can see.
Noble is not good enough for the championship.
    Haller no movement again.
He hasn’t got enough subs to change this, he has properly messed up today.
Even managed to make soucek look Un dangerous by doing short corners.
How can you change a team from one of promise to one of such negativity.

At the moment Brighton are playing the Better Football . Let’s see how it goes !.
Any chance of signing Danny Welbeck ? . I wouldn’t say no . We haven’t started well . Welbeck is certainly putting himself in the market with this display . Could easily make striker in the current west ham team , IMO .

Moyes is playing with fire.. For pity sake I hope he does not fall on his sword… How can Noble play successive games… This is so negative it is unbelievable… For pity sake we are playing Brighton… No Benrhama, Lanzin Yarmelenko… Wow I certainly hope he gets a result today otherwise the Moyes detractors will have a field day….

Could someone please try to clear my rather muddled thought processes and explain why in a home match against a very out of form team David Moyes elects to play Mark Noble in favour of Said Benrahma especially as our main goal scorer is still out injured and we are struggling for creativity.?

  • Dave says:

I don’t know about you, but noble playing no10 at home is just demoralising .

Unless every player is up for it and don’t think they are getting an easy game we will win. However if we don’t put in the hard work it will be a tough day . COYI ⚒

  • Childish says:

All depends on how many chances we waste again…no option of another forward is starting to be a big problem
