I couldn’t quite catch all of the Hammers’ fans chanting through the first half as West Ham laboured to get back into the game. There was plenty of ‘Bubbles’ later on in the second half as West Ham rallied and scored twice but then the wheels came off and the game was thrown away.
However somebody at the game kindly sent me the chant which grew throughout a section of the Hammers’ fans as the first half wore on and if I were Graham Potter, I’d be very worried after hearing that.
They say that if a team loses the away supporters then the writing is on the wall. The TV coverage I was watching broke away as soon as the game ended so I don’t know what the reception for West Ham’s team was at the end but I’ll bet it wasn’t ‘West Ham are Massive‘ being belted out.
David Sullivan now has to consider his options with the most vociferous, fiercest Hammers fans already making their opinion clear mid way through the first half with their chant which will be all over social media by now. I’ll spare you Googling it by simply saying it started ‘the German’s right’ – in reference to Niclas Fullkrug’s outspoken comments last week – and then referred to the team with a couple of words – one of which rhymed with ‘right’.
Accompanied by frequent ‘Get the German on the pitch” chanting after West Ham went behind, this was a very loud and very clear statement by the travelling Claret and Blue supporters.
Shocking. For West Ham fans to voice their opinions so bluntly is testament to the supporters yet again having to endure witnessing the team going behind – whilst playing Potter’s deep defending, ‘low block’ football.
Another feeble last minute capitulation made me angry even sitting at home with my feet up: If I’d have travelled half way across the country and paid over a hundred quid to watch that toothless last few minutes, I’d probably have been chanting along with the rest.
Potter has his work cutout now to excuse his way out of that.
This is the problem with ignorance. Potter knows better than anyone whether Fullkrug is medically up to playing 90 minutes or not.
Times have changed.
I went to away games through the 70’s , 80’s and 90’s, only missing a handful of games.
Away support always backed the players and club no matter, believe me it was much much worse then.
If the current away support travels around the country to dig the team out, don’t go.
Away games are a closed shop ticket wise, jog on and let the supporters who want to go away and get a ticket.
Going away was about the hard core standing with the team, not all the bollocks of the ones who now turn so quickly.
So what they lost, there’s next week…
I’m starting to think getting relegated might help in long run ..all the me me me players woukd leave and we woukd have to play younger hungrier lads who love the game not there bank account…start from a fresh canvas ….. woukd be disastrous financially…but who gives a fk ..we fans suffer so would be nice fir the money men to suffer with us …these Player’s have no idea how lucky they are …absolute shambles…..half the team only care about themselves……….they should be ashamed
They were right, Fullkrug should have started and he’s a bigger man for me through speaking out.
They clearly can’t pronounce Fulkrug’s name 😊
It has been proven over the last few games that we look so much better with Fullkrug in the team. I am not sure whether not starting him today was either tactical or as punishment for speaking out. Either way it demonstrates how deluded he is.
Sully never really wanted him and only initially offered a short term contract. Potter is rapidly losing the supporters and we all know there is no way back from that.
West Ham are Massive was chanted when we were 2-1. Also ” He says want he wants,he says wants he wants, the big f*cking German ,he says what he wants
