Lucas Paqueta has taken much acclaim generally and in particular for his fine goal against Olympiacos. More of the same against Forest tomorrow (Sunday) would be perfect. But he may need some help of the same kind against the east midlanders of the type he received from the brilliant Hammers assist king James Ward-Prowse who made his fine strike possible.
Ward-Prowse could have been entirely fed up that his set piece corners went to waste, notably when Nayef Aguerd missed what was a very straightforward chance but in the end provided a ball which wasn’t dissimilar to those the Brazilian has provided in the past for Jarrod Bowen. As a ball over the top to feet it was magnificent and thankfully we for once were grateful to VAR which showed the attacking midfielder to be onside for a fine goal.
Ward-Prowse has two goals and three assists for the Hammers this season but was unworried at being left out of the England squad saying his concern now is West Ham ad West Ham alone.
Meanwhile Lukasz Fabianski – talking to The London Evening Standard said: “I think as players, we know. Even when he was at Southampton, we knew that he was a really good player on the ball, in terms of controlling the tempo of the game, the passing game he has and with that beautiful assist.
“We always knew the quality he had and we see it even more now he’s in our team. Hopefully, he can stay at this level for a long, long time and be a very important player for us — from set-pieces and playmaking on the pitch.”
