Brobbey Transfer Deal Hits 30M Roadblock

Image for Brobbey Transfer Deal Hits 30M Roadblock

West Ham’s bid to sign Ajax striker Brian Brobbey is said to have come to a standstill, with neither club willing to budge on the terms of the deal.

The lightning-fast Dutch striker is understood to have agreed to move to the London Stadium, and personal terms are not believed to be a significant issue. However, Ajax’s insistence on an obligation to buy and a €30 million fee is causing West Ham to have second thoughts.

Claret & Hugh have spoken to a top source at the London Stadium during the past hour, and it was made clear that reports of Brobbey flying to London were unrelated to West Ham.

What is clear is that negotiations have been ongoing between the two clubs and the player for over 48 hours. Claret & Hugh have been informed that while the majority of the agreement is in place, the longer it drags on, the less likely the deal is to happen.

The Hammers were believed to have a clear run at the player. However, other clubs are now becoming interested, adding further complications, particularly given Ajax’s insistence on an obligation to buy rather than an option.

It is evident that some form of compromise deal will have to happen for this transfer to progress but as things stand, nobody is budging?

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

I started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

I give West Ham opinions and interviews on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus. Former video and content creator for West Ham United back in the days of Upton Park. I was lucky enough to feature in the documentary broadcast on that final wonderful game at the Boleyn when Winston Reid broke Manchester United hearts.

I frequently feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

We are more likely to sign Mr Blobby than Mr Bobbey

  • Joe Rodriguez says:

I think it’s best we move on to other targets as this geezer ain’t any good, if de boer says he’s crap and is always falling on the floor in Holland then what’s he gonna be like at the London Stadium. I thought McCauley was meant to be top dog and he’s trying to buy this load of pony? When will Sullivan ever get it right?

  • Essexiron42 says:

Why are we limiting ourselves to just these 3 strikers when Brobbey has had a poor goal scoring record this season and the other 2 have struggled with injuries? Why are we not going all out to sign Santiago Giminez from Feyenord who has scored 15 goals and 3 assists in 18 matches this season, including 2 goals against Bayern Munich in the Champions League? AC Milan have just had a bid for £34 million turned down for Giminez and Tottenham also said to be interested.

Brobbey has scored only 1 goal in 17 matches in the Eredevis and Ajax are demanding 30 million plus 5 million in add ons.

At just 23 years old the Mexican international could transform our attack and form a huge partnership with Summerville, Bowen and Kudus.

  • Ian the sub says:

Clearly W.H. Owner, Management and Board totally lack any ambition whatsoever, as far as football is concerned , including the Club’s prestige, what’s left of it !!

  • Gaven says:

    Arrrrgh

  • Jamie Hickman says:

How strange that we can’t manage £27m, but supposedly we’re bidding 57m for Duran. 🤔

  • Lee says:

Seriously thinking about not getting another season ticket for next year … totally fed up with the board.. fake news on transfers…. How many times have we had this ..” players want to join WH then not … getting better offers …… just sick of this over and over again

  • Lee says:

Why am I not surprised ….. this deal breakdown … not the first or the last time …….. this crap only builds us up only to let us down

  • M B says:

We are now saying it’s down to PSR so the £57m bid for Duran was clearly fake. We will not buy anyone in this window

  • Rob says:

Come on Sulivan get your hands in your deep pockets! We need some players in and time is ruining out!

  • Mark J says:

Here we go again. Sully using his trousers with deep pockets & short arms. We will end up with either a cheap last minute signing or nothing at all.

  • Fredk says:

It should come as no surprise that we are almost at the end of the transfer window and we are no further forward. Same old soap opera, hirings and firings, spoof offers for players,it never ends and neither will it whilst we have a porn baron in charge. It’s an embarrassment.

  • JIM2607 says:

Desperate January beggars cant be choosers. Just get him in if Potter wants him

  • barkingsidebob says:

More Bullshit from the Dildo brother. Generate interest.sell a load of season tickets then buy a player from Crewe or Macclesfield

  • MJ says:

The rest of the board are getting an easy ride, Kretinsky included, they are every bit as culpable in creating this circus as the Theydon Bois goblin . They seem to have decided to give him free reign.
Injury prone 29 year old Andre Silva it is then.

  • Ray says:

    Never saw that coming!

  • Phil Baker says:

The so called 57 million bid for Duran was ‘ smoke and mirrors ‘ by Sullivan as usual with zero chance of success because Aston Villa had already received and rejected a bid for 75 million . Perhaps Sullivan is an Arsenal fan because everything he does at Westham seems purposefully disastrous ranging from the worst possible coach to broken old donkeys for CF . Kretinsky needs to wield the axe on Sullivan and his clown show or his investment will plummet in value as Westham are relegated this season or the next . No good players want to come to an archaically and poorly run club with no chance of Euro football .

  • vince thurnell says:

    Pathetic yet again

    • Mallerz says:

Supported these clowns since 1965 and it has always been one step forwards and one step back. I can only imagine and hope that we get proper/decent owners in, at some point in my lifetime. From my perspective. The only thing that has really changed in that time. Is that we are no longer (touches head……….wood) a yo-yo promotion/relegation club. Apart from that……..everything else is pretty much ‘normal service’.

Good news. There is hope. COYI

  • M B says:

Usual story. The spiv trying to lower the asking price. Can’t wait for the Football regulator to come into force so we can be rid of the circus clowns

  • Paul. says:

”HERE WE GO AGAIN” we were going to pay 57 mill for Duran ??? and he is 27 mill cheaper. i wouldn’t blame Potter if he up’t and walked away out of principle. what did the Sullivan say ”Were-gonna-get-the-players-the-manager-wants” ??? i can see us being ”RELAGATED” especially now they wanna push ”Kudus” out the door. ”CRAZY” C O Y I’s

  • Neil Abrey says:

I will not be surprised when Steidten moves on that the narrative this site has promoted will unravel.

  • Frank says:

Has anyone looked at the stats of Brobbey? Misses chance after chance.. in the eredivisie. Has scored 1 goal. Not even worth half of 30 mil.

    • John Ayris says:

Brobbey… When on loan to Ajax from Leipzig 7 goals in 11 appearances. Since then 32 goals in 79 appearances. He has scored 1 goal in 7 international appearances may be what you’re referring to.

      • Jimbo 2 says:

He’s referring to the 1 goal in 17 appearances this season. Goes missing too often in games this season.

He’s gone off the boil this season so £30m would be a worry.

Gimenez would be the better option if we’re shopping in that league.

  • Trevsheadwonthecup says:

Gonzo posts yet another clickbait article. And people are biting as usual. If this came from Sean whetstone I’d listen. This bloke changes his mind quicker than Imelda Marcus changed her shoes .

  • Kip says:

I can’t believe they are doing this again…its like they want to get gazumped…offer 57 for Duran but won’t put option to buy on a 30 mil young up and coming striker. Who the other clubs are looking at …what is there fking deal…DID YOU LOT REALLY NOT LEARN FROM DURAN.
    we will lose this player
..same old story…..plse prove me wrong ffs

    • Andy. Y says:

It’s an obligation to buy not an option that the board are refusing on.
Because the current form is questionable at best they do not want to be forced to buy a lemon but his previous form should shout plenty of positivity so work out why he isn’t firing on all cylinders and 30m could be a steal.
We can’t be any worse off than the Ings or Fulkrug purchase so personally would deal and work on getting him back to his previous form

  • NorfolkHammer says:

this club never seems to amaze me, we should’ve got Potter in before Floppy & perhaps we would’ve seen the best of transfers under Potter rather than some of the crap players signed & a waste of money 💰

  • Clifford healy says:

Same different day need to learn from past mistakes and expect to pay what’s expected.

  • Hammeroo says:

‘Football Club Ownership For Dummies’ is Sullivan’s go-to reference manual.

  • Jeeps says:

Presumably report that £29.5m had been offered was incorrect.
    Can’t be haggling over £.5m.
Is it £30m plus £5m add ons Ajax want.
Either just pay it and get deal done.
Time to move on to need in defense, c/bk.
Duran bid was £57m by all accounts.

  • Trevor says:

For godsake just pay the money

  • John Ayris says:

Another Sullivan deranged decision in the making ?

Just look at what these attempts to save tuppence ha’penny cost in the long run.

You’d think that after the Duran fiasco a lesson would have been learned.

  • mark wiggins says:

No surprise is it it’s Wesy Ham useless at transfers

  • Matt Emulsion says:

Tottenham are virtually there, but, we tried…pathetic!

  • Danny says:

Hes so young and we will never lose money on him..what does sulivan not get

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

This is typical Sullivan, Ajax don’t need to sell, just get the deal done and the player signed, would be surprised if teams like Forest aren’t looking at him.

  • Tom says:

What’s happened to the 57 million that was allegedly bid for Dhuran this site was crowing about that money soon disappeared. That what happens when you’ve got a spiv who thinks he’s a wheeler dealer. Pay the money. How not to negotiate and run a football club.

  • Hugh Jassoll says:

Tim would have got it done

    • Trevor Brooking walks on water says:

If this deal fails through it will just be a kick in the teeth for Potter and Macaulay. Brobbey identified by Both to fit into the football philosophy of Potter. This impasse needs professional negotiation skills to get the wheels running again. Somebody like Steidten for instance. Oh wait a minute, we haven’t got anyone at the club like that, have we?

  • Man tit says:

    Welcome Silva

  • Mr T R says:

    Surprise, surprise!!

  • Matt Reid says:

Just get it done for £30m! He’s got bags of potential and Potter will get the best out of him. It’s not that much of a risk, we’ve overpaid for inferior players in the past, this guy has real pedigree and suits us to a tee! Basically Antonio but with technical ability! Have we not learned from the Duran, or Gyokeres sagas?!!

  • LORD ROBERT VENOUR says:

Don̈t understand the poison dwarf 57 mil for a villa reserve but won’t pay half the money for a first teamer the man’s a liar says one thing does cplete opposite

  • DJHammer says:

The time has come for a rerun of Canning Town Len’s fantastic depiction of ” razzle dazzle ’em”. Pretty sure that it’s in the C& H archive folder 📂 😀

  • pat says:

Are we surprised no as we all new this was going to happen…Spuds or Gooners sneak in and take him i wonder what the dwarf will say then

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

    It’s just Groundhog Day.

If we want to be an ambitious club, we have to be ambitious in the transfer market, and take some risk. These risks are reduced with a more effective scouting and buying policy, which I believe we can build with Potter et al and with Sullivan letting people do what they’re good at and staying away.

This just smacks of Sullivan trying to buy players on a cheap deal, and we don’t have the clout to do that currently. We only get that clout – to be able to dictate terms – when we’re a top 10 club with success and a reputation for being a great place to play football.
