Bruce close to getting Snodgrass

snoddy5Steve Bruce is hopeful that he’s close to completing a move which will take Robert Snodgrass to Aston Villa.

Despite earlier denials by Villa’s owner that a deal was going to happen it now seems that Bruce is very close to sorting out the sort of deal reported here a couple or three weeks back.

Bruce believes the Scot has the quality and experience to his forward line, and is n discussions with the winger over the loan move.

Sunderland are also keen where another former Snodgrass boss, Simon Grayson, is hoping to get the same deal done which would reunite the pair from Leeds days.

Ahead of the Villa trip to Bristol City tomorrow (Fri) though , Bruce seemed in confident mood saying: “He will add that bit of sparkle, if you like, up front.

“He can play in any position across the front line and is a very good player. Let’s hope we can do something.”

  1. Taxi for Mr Snodgrass!

  2. Please get this Deal done. However does leave us a bit thin, hope the club have got a replacement on the cards someone that goes b4 Ayew in the pecking order

    • Jota should be replacement we have bee keen on him most of the summer. And he is RWer can play AM too and w Snodgrass leaving that is the spot we need Antonio cover and he is creative. At 26 he scored 12 goals and 5 assists in 20 apps for Brentford after return from loan in LA Liga for personal reasons. But was helped out of QPR game yesterday and only played 1 game as a sub and made 2 assists. Boro have made a Bid of £4.5m they want £8m. We said to have offers £3m a few weeks ago but their Manager deinied that but also said he has nothing to do with it left up to chairman.
Think Ryad at £6m top creator in Europe been great but didn’t bid on him and went to Betis.
But if Jota can make the move to premier league and he Wang’s West Ham move then should prove good adds creator to help Ant and Lanzini. And would have high wages unless we just decide a _10yr deal and £100k wages. But should be ££40 at highest probably lower £30k.
So hopefully we bid I a imagine they will go in £6m and add ons but probably best replacement at this stage hate to lose him to Boro as long as we at least match their bids we should get him

  3. Will be interesting to see what happens to his career. Will it carry on downwards or return to the solid PL level he was at before he joined us? Hmmmmm….

I agree Polo that we look a bit short here & there. Seem to remember being surprised a couple of times when I saw Spuds games last season. When you looked at the subs none of the names were familiar. They got away with a thin squad, but unless our injury record improves I don’t think we could. Two or three key players out & we will struggle. That is when you need a strong defence & the spirit to grind out a few results.
