Steve Bruce today claims he trusts his big buddy Sam Allardyce to give it everything in his bid to beat Newcastle tomorrow and perhaps help save him and his Hull team from the Championship.
Allardyce gave the Irons squad several days off this week ahead of the St James’ Park clash tomorrow sparking criticism inside Upton Park.
Bruce though has confidence in the 60 year old that his team will be ready for a game from which Newcastle as Newcastle and Hull scrap for points to save themselves from the drop.
Commenting on his mate’s training decisions Bruce said: “That’s his prerogative. It’s his business what he does with his players, but Sam’s a man of integrity and honesty and he’ll make sure his team are properly prepared for Newcastle.
West Ham have gone 11 away games without a win since a victory at West Brom in December and have scored only twice in their last five games and Allardyce said: “The odds are probably a draw at the moment.
“And I am sure between Newcastle and Hull and whatever the situation, and how it changes, it will be making either side very, very nervous. But for us it is about concentrating on ourselves and trying to win.”
Hull boss Bruce is desperate to avoid having another relegation on his CV after going down with David Sullivan and David Gold’s Birmingham in 2006.
Bruce & Diame going down.Diame must be well pleased he got his dream move to…Hull, lol, what goes around comes around Mo.Unlucky!
And he has had a year since then to win us over, just think we were nearly tricked because Nolan and Carroll were injured just shows you there is a god and his name is not Sam,
Well not to people on this site
For any of the flat earth,Sam’s the only option merchants that are still out there please take one look at the photo above of OUR team’s manager giving the classic pose given by players all over to opposition fans. Now realise that he’s doing it to OUR fans and think (possibly a novel concept) for a minute whether you can seriously think he is the right man to manage our beloved club.
Unfortunately Mr Bruce what goes around comes around. I like many fans remember your comments about relegating us so saying goodbye to the Hull Tigers after spending 40 million will raise a smile in my household….
I expect all our players will come out in union jack boxer shorts & hankies on their heads tomorrow.Bleedin might as well!
They have had so much time off there going to need to play friendliest to play friendlies
It’s the only club that uses the 3 day week rule and 1 of them is match day,
If our lot are under performing Mr Bruce needs to look at his squad, he paid over the odds for every player and they have repaid him minimum effort,
Never mind when Brucie gets the bullet Hull sounds just the club and if there owner can’t change the name to the Tigers The Hippo,s has a nice ring to it
Dispite all the negative views on the team having the week off, I still think it may turn out to be a good decision. Give players time to get energy back, returned to training Friday and be fully fit for Sunday
Sorry Mr Bruce, but I’m afraid your buddy has other priorities now. The first one: he has to plan his Holiday. This week Sam rested along with the players a couple of days. I’m sorry about you and your team.
