New West Ham United boss Julen Lopetegui is on a mission to reshape the squad after a lacklustrer season. The Spanish manager is making strategic moves in the transfer market, focusing on both defensive solidity and attacking firepower.

Lopetegui’s first order of business appears close to completion: a £12.8 million deal for Brazilian defender Fabricio Bruno. The 28-year-old is known for his determination and tackling, qualities that will undoubtedly strengthen West Ham’s often leaky defense. His experience and defensive prowess are expected to provide much-needed stability, addressing a key weakness from last season.

While shoring up the defensc is crucial, Lopetegui isn’t neglecting the attack. One name linked heavily with the Hammers is Corinthians winger Wesley Gassova. The 19-year-old caught the eye of technical director Tim Steidten during a scouting mission to Brazil.

Gassova’s reputation precedes him. He’s considered one of the hottest prospects in South American football, with his pace, skill, and chance creation making him a desirable target for many Premier League clubs. Reports suggest West Ham is leading the race to secure his signature, with a potential £20 million transfer fee on the table.

The prospect of losing Gassova has Corinthians manager Antonio Oliveira worried. Oliveira highlighted the young winger’s importance to the team, expressing his concern in a recent interview with Globo Esporte.

Lopetegui’s proactive approach to transfers signifies a new era for the Irons. The signings of Bruno and potentially Gassova represent a clear desire to address past shortcomings and build a team capable of success. While only time will tell if these acquisitions translate to on-field results, they offer a glimpse into the exciting future Lopetegui is trying to create at the London Stadium.

Sound like good signings but not fulfilling our homegrown players quota ( Premier League regulations)

I saw a feature on Sky sports at H/T during Bundesliga playoff on Sehrou Guirassy and I can’t understand why we’ve not made him our number one priority signing! Reminds me of Dean Ashton with intelligent movement and excellent finishes, perfect replacement for Antonio. Rebuild starts with Centre Back and Centre Forward anything else will be a bonus so just get on with and don’t wait until the end of the transfer window.

I agree what a shame for dean ashton we have not ever replaced him good wright mate

  • Ponfo says:

I will believe it when the deal is over the line not before, we have seen enough rumours and promises only to end up with egg on our faces, where we havent sealed the deal and then lost out. West ham get on with it, get the deals done but most of all make sure the quality and younger. Learn from your past mistakes.

I cant understand some of you ”So-Called-WEST-HAM-SUPPORTERS” the geezers been in the ”Hot-Seat” for a day, ”Lopetgui” that is. and i think we can agree that Steidten made sum amazing signing last summer, or do you not agree ???

Give the guys a chance FFS and if you take the time to read about Lopetgui, hes well thought of by a lot of people who know what there talking about as far as footballs concerned guys. so sit back ”Take-A-Chill-Pill” and wait till the end of June at least untill you all start getting on the guys back and saying hes not the right guy for the job. and then atb the end of June if he hasn’t sorted out the team, you lot can start slagging him off then. and i’ll probally join in with you LOL

    Cheers Paul

Bruno will need somebody that he can rely on as a team mate, not Ogbonna or captain Zoom(a), wave good by to them.
Neither would be any good on subs bench.
Subs bench was so weak last year it needs substantial upgrade to take pressure off main 11 players.
