In the last couple of hours reports have popped up on a variety of news sites – footballfancast.com and sport witness to name a couple who have feeds from Italian media- linking West Ham with Arkadiusz Milik, 30 year old Juventus’ centre forward.
The Italian press are apparently advising that The Hammers have made contact this week, enquiring about the Polish international who is not in Juve’s Manager Thiago Motta’s plans for the coming season.
Likened by one source to ‘Havertz 2.0’, these reports caught my attention owing the the very affordable price being quoted – which we know appeals to West Ham – of £5 million to buy and wages of £72,000 a week: Very ‘do-able’ for the East Londoners and would not cause any dressing room rifts with outrageous salary demands.
Plus his style is less of an out an out out ‘hit man’ more of a forward integrating into a front three. Perhaps fitting into Lopetegui’s style well without breaking the bank. His 8 goals in 36 last season is hardly earth-shattering and he’s no spring chicken. However, bear in mind that he scored 4 in 4 in the Italian Cup competition which Juve won. So a trophy winner too.
We now know West Ham have genuinely been sniffing around bargain older hitmen – reports confirming we did try and buy Newcastle’s Callum Wilson as per my article yesterday but disagreed ver the £15 million price tag- would back that up.
So there could well be more to come with this one, a ‘cheap’ forward to keep the fans quiet?
Its not one to get excited by but let’s play devil’s advocate here. Maybe He’s Ings replacement. Younger, less wages, seemed injury free and scored more goals recently, neither have pace. If we are looking at Duran and Somerville maybe an old head who’s been there and done it will be useful? Fabianski will know his character. If Lopetegui thinks he’s a better fit for his system then I’m OK with taking a punt. For that money he would be coming in as back up.
Don’t be such a plank.
Exactly what we need, another striker in his 30’s who hardly scores! How exactly do you think this ‘signing’ would keep the fans happy?
I’m not believing these ‘stories’ of us chasing over the hill players. I don’t see any of the likes of Wilson, Milik etc fitting Steidten’s brief.
I do not understand why we tell the world and his dog who we are interested in buying. Shut up until a deal is done and dusted and then make an announcement. I waste hours on this site and you seem to know nothing. I will just look at Sky sport from now on.
Genuinely wish I could block it.
Didn’t learn from the most recent striker fail, and Danny Ings was hardly ‘budget’.
Also didn’t learn from the Ollie Watkins fail.
You might remember that Sullivan had doubts about Watkins’ ability to make the transition to EPL. Did Sullivan ever lace on a boot? He doesn’t appear to have much idea does he?
If they want young, hungry, ready for EPL level, speed, aerial strength and significant investment in the future, the go out and pay the extra for Duran.
He went go Bargain, Bargain, Bargain.
Basement buy.
Wrong age and if he don’t score won’t keep fans quiet.
Buy him as a sub backup but not as a main buy.
Sick off all this bs report on some new up to date transfer news
