Burnley slam Amazon coverage

Burnley FC have raised a complaint to Amazon over the broadcaster’s pre-match coverage of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at West Ham at the London Stadium.

The Premier League club wrote to producers Sunset+Vine to document displeasure at thinly veiled accusations levelled at new owners, ALK Capital.

The Amazon team at the London Stadium — comprising of presenter Gabby Logan and pundits Clinton Morrison and former Hammer Matthew Upson raised questions about the board’s actions since securing a leveraged £170million takeover last month.

The American investment group completed its takeover of Burnley, buying an 84% stake in the Premier League club on New Year’s Eve.

According to reports, Burnley’s new owner ALK paid about £150 million for 84 per cent of Burnley’s shares but has put in only around £15 million of its own money upfront.

The rest has come from MSD Capital, the private equity firm set up in 1998 to manage the Michael Dell family fortune — and approximately £55 million from Burnley’s own bank account.
