Byram injury update

|

Sam-Byram-637845Sam Byram has torn a hamstring and will be out of action for the Iron ย for six weeks minimum!

The right back overstretched within the first five minutes of the weekend clash against West Brom and was stretchered off – seemingly in agony.

Now it has emerged the unlucky defender will be out for a considerable period as the club’s problems persist.

We have also learned that Arthur Masuaku is also the victim of a bad injury and is unlikely to be back until December the earliest.

ClaretandHugh‘s top source told us this morning: “Sam has a very bad hamstring tear and will be sidelined for at elast six weeks and it could be more.

“Masuaku is six to eight weeks sidelined but thankfully Aaron Creswell will be back very soon.”

Why are we getting so many injuries? Are they being over trained or under trained? Are they warming up and stretching properly? Something’s wrong.

This is typical of our luck or lack of it just when the injured are returning to fitness more new injuries. I must admit was a bit surprised he started this game, and probably in hindsight we should have stuck with Arbeloa, and let Sam two more weeks recovery. COYI

Young Pike has been playing really well for the U23.
Slaven needs to go and see him in action tomorrow night at Wycombe.

How much cover do you need.Byram,Arbeloa,Cresswell,Fuka.We have FOUR fullbacks, two for either side. That seems like a starter & cover for both positions to me.You cant legislate for injuries to three of them can you ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yes, but Masuaka and definitely Arbeloa were last minute acquisitions after Cresswell had pulled up lame – hardly genius planning!

  • Michael Miller says:

Let’s hope the Arbeloa can get properly fit – him not starting on Saturday probably means he’s not fully ready yet but there’s still a couple of weeks until the Palace match.

The lack of cover at full-back is really biting us in the arse – what were they thinking about during the Transfer Window?

He did get cover in the full back positions. We have Arbeloa and Byram on the right, Cresswell and Masuaku on the left. Sods law that three of them picked up pretty serious injuries. Ogbonna was not fantastic at left back the other day but he has played there before and was not a total disaster on Saturday. Shame about Tompkins leaving , he would have been a decent shout as a thrid choice right back (maybe even second).

Why didn’t we get cover in the transfer market???? Defence is still the same problem.
