CandH Exclusive: Andy Carroll update

Andy Carroll’s rumoured return to West Ham isn’t going to happen!

The big Geordie is out of contract after a spell at Reading on loan and according to some social media platforms – notably Twitter – was seen at the Rush Green Training Ground in a car.

That obviously led to suggestions, such is our need for a striker, that he could be in line for a return to the club possibly on loan until the summer.

But after making enquiries of various sources one of our key insiders close to the squad has made it clear that there is no such plan in place.

This should come as no real surprise given that David Moyes – during his first spell at the club – ordered Andy Carroll home from West Ham’s training ground  after an angry confrontation.

Carroll, it was understood at the time, returned to the dressing room to use the toilet after Moyes made a triple substitution midway through the second half of a game against Manchester City.

Moyes promised to “deal with it” and on the Monday following the game instructed Carroll to return home after reporting to the club’s training base.

The pair had s previously clashed after the 2-0 defeat at Watford in November and a reunion this season always looked a little fanciful.

No reasons were given when we put the situation to our key source with simply an emphatic “NO” being given.

Beyond his problems with the manager Carroll missed over a days  through injury with the Hammers and managed just two goals in eight games for Reading plus being a part of a 0-7 defeat by Fulham on his penultimate appearance.

Unless the manager has one of his famous changes of minds this one is a non starter.
