CandH Exclusive: Coufal’s predicted return

CandH Exclusive by Hughie Southon

Vladi Coufal is set to be on the Hammers sidelines for the next six weeks.

Having undergone successful surgery on a groin issue, the right back is set to miss the remaining matches in March which of course rules him out of Europa Trophy action.

The Czech defender was reported to have come through his time under the knife successfully by the official site but the early signs are that he will be missing until the middle of April .

His return looks set to be against Brentford away on the 9th of next month or Burnley at the london stadium a week later.

That means we will be relying on Ben Johnson – who has just seen a two year option on his deal extended by the club – and Ryan Fredericks who looked in dreadful form against Newcastle although in fairness he wasn’t alone.

Johnson is probably the more likely starter on Sunday against Wolves.

  1. I hope all those that gave Coufal such a hard time following the Leicester game now realise why he struggled. It was a very uncharacteristic performance and we now know he must have been struggling with this injury. He has performed magnificently since arriving and I was really shocked how quickly some supporters turned against him after one bad, half game performance. We are going to miss him greatly in the weeks to come.

  2. Sounds like good news Hughie as the surgery is a reason for his form dip which could be solved now. Also – gives Johnson/Ashby a chance

  3. Send the surgery bill to Matic.

  4. Last person we want at fullback is Frederick’s so let’s just have Ashby as Johnson back up until coufal returns . More worried about moyes choosing of squad and subs than ever. His dithering and poor judgement and no plan b is showing his no top coach after doing well and finding his next level is going backwards. Hope I’m wrong but not looking good when oku flex Chesters longelo Ashby alese all look good enough for chance in first eleven but ignored by moyes .

    Agree totally.
Moyes reluctance to use u23s or subs well has affected our squad depth. Look at Elanga at ManU. Our u23s played him off the park earlier in the season,.u23s were top for a long time but Moyes refused to bring them through.
Other clubs make far better use of these players.
    Sort it DM
