Declan Rice remains uncertain of being involved in the match against Seville in Spain in Thursday evening’s Europa Cup last 16 game.

The captain missed the game against Liverpool with illness and Claretandhugh has learned the player still hasn’t fully recovered.

With Jarrod Bowen looking unlikely to make it with a bruised heel the Hammers face the trickiest of games against the six times winners of the competition as a result.

Dec was tested for covid after developing a sore throat and feeling fatigued but a lateral flow showed him for be negative.

He has now been checked daily by the medical staff and has had blood tests but it seems that he was hit by a mystery bug which still hasn’t bee identified.

However, a source told CandH that he is feeling better than he was at the weekend and fingers are firmly crossed he will make the game.

We were told: ” He is feeling a bit better, though not 100 per cent. He’s been very ill with a mystery bug. Sore throat, not eating, but no temperature. HOPEFULLY he’ll be okay for Thursday”
