West Ham are free to sign two players

West Ham are free top sign two players right now.

The club made it clear a couple of weeks back that they needed to shift players out before they could bring any in but with a squad of 24 – after not signing Jesse Lingard – that is not strictly the case writes Hughie Southon!

And with Thilo Kehrer on his way in a loan deal to Monaco, which is to be made permanent, it means two places are available.

And this evening – although it doesn’t affect the first team – the club have announced that young goalkeeper Krisztián Hegyi is on his way to Holland on loan.

Justifiably, many are starting to wonder just when we will actually see some players start to arrive. With eight days of the window having passed that is understandable.

All we have heard so far from the club is of outward departures when we need a much strengthened defence and front men. No word is escaping the club about who they may be although it is well known we are looking at the defence.

Things don’t look great there and strikers will inevitably be required at some stage very soon so if players can’t be sold it means the board will need to dig deep very quickly strengthen a squad which basically looks like a first team and a reserve team.

And that really isn’t good enough!

All eyes on Steidten. This is his problem to solve. No blaming Moyes this time around.

    • That suggests Moyes has no input at all when it is he who tells Steidten the type of players he wants so NO. It’s Dual responsibility

And yet you give all the credit to Steidten for the good transfers. It’s either one or the other.

        • I gave great credit to Moyes for JWP/Emerson pick and have been assured Alvarez and Kudus were TS picks whilst the club had to get Barry Silkman in to get Paqueta. Perhaps you need to read all our posts. My objection to Moyes is the style of play

And transfer-wise, Moyes wanted the club to pay silly money for Maguire and McTominay. Like most managers he gets some signings that work out and some that don’t. Steidten hasn’t got anything wrong yet. Without Kudus and Paqueta we look toothless – Bowen can’t do it all himself.
