CandH Exclusive: Hammers cooling on Man City target

Exclusive by Hughie Southon

West Ham are looking around at other possibilities to replace Declan Rice replacement- an issue regularly in West Ham news – after studying £160k a week Kalvin Phillip’s injury track record.

David Moyes attempted to sign the former Leeds midfielder before he agreed a deal with Manchester City at around £40 million.

The 27 year old has a contract at the club until 2028 but word is Pep Guardiola would be ready to offload him if he can get the club’s money back.

However, he has made just five appearances for City in the Premier League this term, including their 2-0 win over us, and missed two months of the season with a shoulder injury.

Last season he was out for four months with a hamstring problem after an absence of a month  20/21 with a calf issue. He also missed another five weeks in that season when at Leeds – again with a shoulder injury.

His record contrasts starkly against Declan’s who has barely missed a game since he arrived in the Hammers side and at £160k a week personal terms the Hammers are right to look in other directions.

  1. Pleased to hear this bit of news if true. Kalvin’s injury record is horrific and the wages that he is currently on are silly.
He does not represent VFM and any reluctance of a player wanting to come to this club, is a definite red flag.
The players that we need at this club, should be young players of potential with something to prove.
