CandH Exclusive: Hammers reveal Zouma truth

Hammers reveal Zouma truth CandH Exclusive By Hugh Southon

West Ham have totally denied reports they are ready to start new contract talks with captain Kurt Zouma.

The Irons immediately dismissed the speculation as being inaccurate and claimed there was zero rush to offer the captain a further deal.

Indeed it was pointed out exclusively to Claret and Hugh the reason he was only signed to a four year deal was because he has desperately bad knees. It’s a historical injury which has seen him on the side lines several times since he arrived.

In fact, since his arrival on 2021 he has been injured for over 150 days – or five months if you will. This has led the club to tell us exclusively there is absolutely no rush to offer the new deal.

Our top source told us. “He has really bad knees which is why we put him in a four year deal. It’s also why we’re not playing him in Europe (so resting midweek).

We have the best part of two years left on his current contract plus an option. There is ZERO rush to renew.”

Kurt Zouma is not the first player to participate sparingly during training either. Former Spurs captain (and cousin of Ben Johnson) Ledley King, famously didn’t train at all. And there will be many of a certain vintage who remember the wonderfully gifted Paul McGrath who didn’t train for the last four years of his career.

Zouma has been in wonderful form this season, and is being managed well by The Hammers medical team. There is certainly no need for the club to rush any decision on his contract.
