Kenny Brown – West Ham’s brilliant centre half in the 1965 Cup Winners Cup team – made it to Upton Park this afternoon as the legendary team was remembered by the club.
Eighty-one-year-old Kenny was burgled of his Wembley medal and the one he collected in the 1964 FA Cup Final and there were fears that he would miss this special day.
But not only did he make it but learned the Irons were making a serious effort to ensure he the medals were recovered.
Speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh David Gold said: “We have put up a £5,000 reward for anybody coming forward with information leading to their recovery.
“It was a wonderful afternoon with many of our old boys and we were delighted that Ken made it. We will do everything we can to ensure the medals are recovered.”
He added: “It was fantastic to have the ’65 heroes here. It was like a trip back in time to that wonderful evening at the old Wembley Stadium”
Ken’s medals were stolen from his Norfolk home and he told police the haul was taken between Wednesday evening and Friday morning.
The thefts included not only his 1964 FA Cup medal, 1965 European Cup Winners Cup medal but his 1985 League Cup medal when he managed Norwich.
“My wife and I feel violated,” he said.
God said: “We think a £5k reward could ensure that somebody – whoever they may be – will come forward with information.
