CandH Exclusive: Moyes has to make Soucek decision

CandH Exclusive By Hughie Southon

Tomas Soucek – reported to have an injury – would have been available to play against Newcastle had the game not been called off tomorrow (Sun)

But he will certainly be ready for action should he be required for the Europa Conference match against Silkeborg on Thursday evening/

Soucek has a really big role to play

The defensive midfielder took a kick in the leg against Chelsea according to Claret and Hugh’s London Stadium sources who are confident he will be ready.

However, whether David Moyes will choose to play him given the quite outstanding performance from Flynn Downes in the game against FCSB remains to be seen.

One thing seems certain however, the Czech Republic international is set to feel the pressure from the former Swansea City player if his first performance is any guide.

With Craig Dawson also very much on the mend Moyes has some interesting options for a game which gives the squad an opportunity of keeping up to speed.

  1. Well too much choice is a luxury problem for a change!

  2. I cant get people accepting that we have to play 2 defensive mids apart from the top teams. Downes was excellent on his debut but for me he is too like Rice. The correct decision is to play either Fornals (my preference) or Paqueta in with Rice. Until we do this we will continue to drop points against teams we have a chance of beating. I keep saying this lack of going forward is holding us back. If I was Moyes I would play Downes and Fornals in midfield on thurs night and try it out.
