David Moyes want to bring James Ward-Prowse from Southampton to the London Stadium this summer.

We have learned that the Hammers are very keen on a move to sign the Saints skipper as David Moyes bids to reshape his squad in this transfer window.

It appears an overhaul is going on with Tomas Soucek being made available and Ward-Prowse  been identified as his potential replacement.

As we have reported the Hammers are trying to bring in Jesse Lingard with Said Benrahma being allowed to leave as a result.

The Ward-Prowse deal would be remarkably hard for the Irons to do, though, given that the 27-year-old has a contract until 2026 and is the club’s captain.

Some earlier reports have suggested that he would cost in excess of £70m and a deal to sign him would take a huge chunk out of Moyes’ budget.

The England international enjoyed an exceptional season for Southampton, scoring 10 goals in the Premier League and also laying on five assists.

There has been reported interest from Manchester United, Aston Villa and Spurs in the past, too, so the Hammers may not be the only club trying to convince Ward-Prowse to leave the south coast.

Ward-Prowse is a replacement for Noble not Soucek, we need both and at least one more, £70m seems fair in todays market he is arguably Southamptons best player, we want allegedly £150m for Rice, Moyes improves players or makes them worse in the case of Benrahma, Vlasic, Masuaku, Yarmolenko etc so there is a chance Ward-Prowse can become an England regular under Moyes and will get to play European football, if that happens and we can improve him further could be World Class because he is already one of the best in the prem at passing and set plays.

I think the Soucek stuff is a negotiation tactic (which I’m not against). He turned down an extension mid-season (didn’t he?). So, this seems like a way to let him know he’s not going to get what he’s asking for, and that he needs to come down a little in his demands.

Silly money £70m but then again Sullivan knows all about silly valuations! At £40m max I’d say yes if Soucek is off.

Ward Prowse is a good player but that’s crazy money. Selling Soucek would be so disappointing to me. Benrahma has flattered to deceive and Vlasic hasn’t been given a chance. He looks willing but again doesn’t seem to be able to influence a Prem match when he only gets a few minutes.

Would be a great signing but £70m, ouch. £40m I’d do it, probs £50m in this market. His set piece delivery and direct free kicks would be invaluable.
