CandH Exclusive by Hughie Southon
Claret and Hugh understands the Hammers are on the brink of agreeing to sell Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta after the Serie A outfit came in to hijack the striker’s possible move to Inter Milan.
We believe the fee may be to be in the order of €24 million, which represents a €7 million loss on the front man who joined the Hammers from Sassuolo last summer.
It has been on the cards for weeks the front man was on his way with Inter being big favourites but in recent days Atalanta switched their attention to the player and may now have won his signature.
Unless there are any late developments it looks as though the forward will be on his way back to Italy.
It has been an unexpected twist in the scenario but one which they have now well have won which leaving the Hammers with Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and Divin Mubama as our front men.
It means also of course that we may now be two big players down on last season’s squad with Scamacca and Rice and as yet, not a single player having arrived at the club.
Well said Pete, saved me the job of typing out practically the same comments 🙂 It was great winning the cup, don’t get me wrong, but now we are reaping the downside of that success, it’s kept Moyes in his job.
Here is David Moyes, and West Ham, in one microcosm. Nothing creative that we do to win games has come from Moyes. Six at the back, a big tall midfielder to header in both boxes, hoping for free kicks or scraps are all his DNA at several clubs. The classy winning goal in Prague was all about players skill, not tactics or management. He bought Scamacca, no idea how to integrate him, then didn’t play him (like so many others), and now is selling him on at a loss. Same way he treated Haller, Hernandez, Vlasic, then Lanzini wasted, Benrahma and Ings still in the melting pot. The board have been so tolerant, but can’t go on signing nobody, resisting all attempts to progress, losing our young prospects, losing massive money on every failed transfer, clearly stumbling forward with no strategy, other clubs players openly rejecting signing for us (ten foot barge poles jabbing away), and hot favourites for relegation without a ball kicked. Sorry, this is now dereliction of duty, Mr Sullivan, please put Moyes out of his muddled misery.
How the hell can we afford to let another big Player leave without a replacement ? This is becoming a joke. The only trouble is a very unfunny one. I think insanity has spread through the Club. Someone must SAVE US !!!
